For the past two weeks I have had a nightmare situation with Stagetecture’s newsletter (the best way to keep up with Stagetecture’s daily posts delivered to your inbox). The actual RSS feed is perfectly fine and if you keep up with Stagetecture via your favorite RSS reader than you probably haven’s seen a problem. To my daily EMAIL subscribers you haven’t seen a Stagetecture newsletter for the last two weeks, or since April 14th to be exact.
Here’s what happened in a nutshell and what I have done to rectify it 🙂
Stagetecture’s Newsletter Rescued: Goodbye MailChimp – Hello Mad Mimi
1. Bad Customer Service from Mailchimp Email Service:
- April 14th – I was contacted by email by Mailchimp saying I had multiple bounces from my email
- April 15th – Contacted by Mailchimp that my newsletter was suspended. I went in and inquired why?
- April 15-April 23rd – 1 week of no contact from customer service at Mailchimp who said they would respond in 24 hours.
- April 24th – I email customer service inquiring of the hold up of suspending my newsletter.
- April 25th – 1 day later they ask me to fill out another form for someone “to research” the problem.
Time to bail ship and look for another service.
I realized that I was going to get nowhere with Mailchimp and in the last week none of my subscribers received updates and I lost over 1/3 of my mailing list somehow.
2. A light at the end of the Email Tunnel:
I decided to go researching for a new email newsletter marketing product and found Mad Mimi. Whe hew!! So here’s what’s improved in 24 hours!
- April 25th signed up for Mad Mimi and was helped by customer service within an hour of my email questions.
- April 26th – I’m contacted by Mad Mimi saying 2/3 of my email campaign bounced. I inquire why did this happen?
I learn that Yahoo/AOL have had new DMARC email marketing changes – resulting in many Yahoo email users having bulk emails bounce.
Well Hallelujah Mad Mimi customer service for figuring that out AND explaining it to me!
Too bad Mailchimp’s bad customer service couldn’t help me figure this out and instead let me go a week without service and took no steps to try and research further.
- I now am using a different email (non related to Yahoo/AOL to send the campaign) to fix the sending issue.
3. New Email Newsletter for you!
The good new is that it should be fixed now. Here’s help I need from you 🙂
- If you received an email newsletter today – April 26th – you don’t have to take further action
- If you DIDN’T receive an email newsletter – Please sign up again in the newsletter signup on the left side column of Stagetecture
- If you are new to Stagetecture and never signed up.. what are you waiting for? 🙂
