- Prepare your working space. It can get a little messy, especially if kids are going to help.
- You can leave the canvas blank or paint the whole canvas with one or more background color (spray paint works fine). If you choose to paint the background, make sure to let it dry completely before proceeding to the next steps.
- Secure pieces of tape to the canvas in any way you want to make patterns, taking care that each piece of tape begins or ends on top of another piece of tape.
- Paint each section with one or more colors. You can choose between completely different colors that pop out or a specific color theme, whichever will meet your goal of decorating your space.
- Let your artwork dry completely.
- Peel of the tape very carefully, so the paint doesn’t peel off. If it does though, you can use a fine paintbrush to correct any details.
It’s that easy! You can use this technique to make different artwork, too. For example write a message on the canvas using the tape and then just paint all over the canvas with colors you choose. Once dry, peel the tape carefully off and enjoy the result! Let kids participate in this fun Summer Project or give them their own canvas to create their art. They will be proud to hang it and cherish it for a long time. The best part about this project is that you can adapt it to look like custom made art for your space only, which will complement the rest of your decoration in an astonishing way.
