Curb appeal is a hard thing to describe for many people. However, it is easy to notice in a home. Curb appeal is so important that it can determine whether a home sells or not. Whether you are looking to perk up your home or are planning to put it on the market, it is important to beautify its exterior. Use these curb appeal tips from our previous posts to ensure your home stops traffic.

Round Up Ideas: Our Best Curb Appeal Tips

Use curb appeal to draw eyes to your home.

Modernize the Front Door

Who amazing can a beautifully painted door invite guests in?

[ad#co-1]

The front door can beautify or deface your home. While it is small in size, it has a big impact. If you have a big budget, you can replace your current door with a wood door. A wood door is stylish, durable, and commands attention. If you can’t afford to buy a new door, paint the current one a bright color. Its color should contrast beautifully with the façade. Our post on 3 Simple Ways to Add Curb Appeal to your Outdoor Home gives insightful tips.

Make the Walkway Tidy

Image via: Mary Skye, RE/MAX Associates

As home buyers come to see your home, they use the walkway. Unless you want them to remember your walkway for its unattractiveness, do not neglect it. Spend a little time and money to repair the cracked asphalt and uneven stones. You can even remove the stones and replace them with gravel. Ensure buyers do not trip as they walk up to your home by using these 10 Tips to Increase Your Home’s Curb Appeal.

Plant Flowers

Are you looking to add curb appeal to your outdoor home? If you were asked to describe curb appeal, what would your answer be? Wouldn’t you be lost for words? No doubt about it, curb appeal can be hard to describe. However, it is an easy thing to spot when a home has it. Houses with curb appeal have a nice finished look and an engaging personality. If you’re looking to sell, curb appeal can help you to make a great first impression. There are lots of inexpensive ways to add curb appeal to your home. Here are some simple ideas:

1. Add Curb Appeal – Update Your Front Door

The focal point of your home’s curb appeal is the front door. Make a style statement by installing a custom wood door or painting your current door a bright color. When choosing paint, get one that contrasts with your home’s façade. Use metal polish on the door’s fixtures and remove any dirty spots around the knob. Your entry should coordinate with the rest of your home so choose a wreath or swag that reflects your personal style.

A bright door creates a striking look

Image via: Fresh Paint Studio

[ad#co-1]

2. Replace Old Items

If you have an old wall-mounted mailbox, entry door lockset, house number, or overhead light fixture, it might be reflecting negatively on your curb appeal. When correctly used, these elements can add interest and style to your home’s exterior. Instead of choosing mix-and-match pieces, go for those that function collectively and give your home unmatched style. If you have a traditional home, choose oil bronzed finishes but go for brushed nickel suits if you have a modern home.

Replace old items and plant foliage for color

Image via: Houzz

3. Install Exterior Lights

With just a few lights, you can create a big impact. Low-voltage landscape lights can perform two key functions: provide security and enhance your home’s curb appeal. Lights can illuminate a walking path or add accent lighting to trees updating the style of your entire exterior.

Protect your family and home

Image via: Houzz

The first thing people see when they come to your home is your front yard. If it doesn’t look good, it will make a lasting impression regardless of what you have inside. Use the above tips and make your home unforgettable for all the right reasons.

<nbsp>

It’s no surprise when people are doing spring home improvements to welcome in the new season. The motivation to make some home renovations is oftentimes a result to adapt to the climate. But of course, these modifications can maintain the sturdiness and provide a refreshing look at your home.

Your home exterior is the one the people see on a regular basis. Oftentimes, your home is criticized by what they see in your exterior. This is why your home exterior should be on top priority for modification especially this spring season. Here are some great ideas on adding spring touches to your exterior home:

Add spring touches to your outdoor home

Images via: Siemasko + Verbridge

[ad#co-1]

Take some time to plan for your spring home exterior design. Make it look like an extension of your character or personality.

Get your garage updated

Your garage is obviously making the scenery on your exterior. This is an area of your home wherein renovations are easily noticed by people outside. You can have it repainted to give a brand new look in an instant. Also, you can change the materials used on your roof. This will be a noticeable change to your exterior.

Customize decorative items

This is something that will capture their attention. It’s a decorative fill in a plain view. For instance, if you have a plain and wide wall, you can add a parapet or a molding to enhance its look. You can also hang on customized planters of lighting fixtures to make it look lively and interesting.

Exterior home spring touches

Image via: Domain Design Architects

Broaden your entrance

One of the best ways to make your home exterior look elegant is to enlarge your entrance. As you see it in luxurious hotels or mansions, entrance door is commonly wide and huge. This will provide a decent illusion of the majestic view from the outside. A nice two door opening is something that you might want to consider.

Guest Blogger #871, Entry #2114, February 16, 2013

You may have begun to notice that the curb appeal and first impression your home provides is not exactly the warm and inviting one you’d prefer. With peeling paint and overgrown hedges, your house is the one on the block that all the neighborhood kids are afraid to come near. Every time your in-laws come over they can’t seem to stop themselves from mentioning the sorry state of your patchy lawn. Unfortunately, you don’t exactly have the cash on hand to hire a landscaper and a handy man to make over the front of your home. So what can you do to improve the curb appeal with an extremely limited budget? As a matter of fact, there are plenty of projects you can tackle on your own for minimal expense, and here are a few that will cost you less than a hundred dollars.

Tips for saving money on your landscaping

Image via: Romani Landscape Architecture

[ad#co-1]

Weeding and seeding.

When you fail to weed your plants regularly they become wild and overgrown, not to mention lousy with dead branches, stems, and vines. So your first order of business is to head to the hardware store for a few necessary gardening tools. You’ll certainly need clippers and you might want to get a heavy-duty spade to dig up any plants that are beyond salvation. A sturdy pair of gloves might be in order, as well. From there you can get some bulbs and seed packets to install a whole new bed of flowers on the cheap; they’ll spring up over the next year or two. And if you have money left over, think about getting a few mature blooms to liven up the landscaping post haste.

Filling in the lawn.

A patchy or dead lawn is most unattractive and it can really make your home look unloved (or worse, unlived-in). However, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on rolls of ready-made sod. With a rake you can clear out a lot of the dead grass, and a piece of rebar will help you to aerate the soil for maximum retention of water. Then all you need is a bag of grass seed (choose a hearty, drought-resistant variety to cut down on the cost of watering) and you’ll have a new lawn within months.

Paint the façade.

In case you didn’t know, you don’t have to paint your entire house. If you can match the color you can purchase just enough paint to slap a coat on the side of your house that faces the street. You’ll pay a little more for paint and primer in one, but the incredible coverage will ensure fewer coats, actually saving you money in the long run. So pick up a couple gallons of exterior paint and give your façade a facelift.

Simple ways to affordably up your curb appeal

Create a walkway.

If the only walkway to the front door leads in from the driveway (leaving guests to navigate around your car or walk across the lawn) consider buying a few concrete pavers to create a new path from the sidewalk to your stoop. This will not only make for a convenient upgrade for visitors, but it will also protect your lawn from the damage of frequent foot traffic.

Spruce up the entrance.

You might not have the money to call in TPO roofing to repair unsightly shingles, but there are plenty of things you can do with your limited budget. Consider painting the door a bright color that complements the hue of your home. If the mailbox is hanging by a hinge, replace it with a new model or simply hit it up with a fresh coat of spray paint and secure it back in place. You might also replace fading or cracked house numbers, toss your ratty, old doormat in favor of a new one, and add a couple of potted plants. And if all you have is a bare bulb for a porch light, think about springing for a fixture that matches the style of your house. Any of these items can be had for less than $100, and if you’re really thrifty you can get several.

Fall is officially here and it’s hard to not stay in the crisp fall air all day and night. Autumn is the perfect time to focus on your yard, after all the temperatures are more moderate and looking out onto a beautiful autumn landscape is what every homeowner loves. If you are trying to perk up your curb appeal, consider adding new seasonal plants, color to your ground cover, or take on a landscaping renovation project! Here are tips to get the autumn curb appeal you desire.

Get your curb appeal ready for autumn

Create a focal point in your yard:

Whether you decide to plant some new trees or want to build a water feature, such as a pond, fall is the perfect time to take on a curb appeal project. Water features can be functional most of the year, unless you have hard freezes in your climate. Before you get started on adding a pond check out All Pond Solutions for your supplies and landscaping questions. Create an area in your yard that adds color, motion, and a striking aesthetic element to your entire outdoor home.

Add seasonal plants and ground cover:

Depending on how much you’d like to transform in your curb appeal, consider adding plants from your local nursery and change out ones that are dying or no longer look vibrant. For those who want to tackle larger jobs such as planting trees or moving large rocks ensure you have the proper moving equipment. Look to rent or buy moving equipment and get a Digger for sale from Scot JCB. Architectural elements such as pergolas, arbors, and other vertical elements would be a great addition to your autumn landscaping.

Decide what landscaping projects you’d like to accomplish

Image via

Your autumn outdoor home can be improved with these helpful curb appeal ideas. Adding color to your exterior home will also change the look of your entire outdoor home. Consider other homes in your area when choosing to ensure your neighborhood keeps a uniform design style. What are you waiting for, get started on your fall curb appeal!

Landscape pavers can beautify any home. There are few things more satisfying to the handy homeowner than watching a DIY project reach culmination, resulting in a space that is more functional and beautiful than before, and especially when it comes to adding curb appeal. And when it comes to addressing a barren yard populated by nothing more than dead grass and a few overgrown shrubs, there’s a lot you can do to spruce up your outdoor space, adding some curb appeal in the front yard along with an outdoor room behind the house that is fit to host your guest in style and accommodate your children’s backyard play sets. But once you’ve laid your sod and put in an order for plants and garden furniture, there’s a step you should take in between, literally. Adding stepping stones and pavers will help to complete the look of your landscaping in a number of ways, and here are just a few options when it comes to utilizing them.

Improving Curb Appeal with Landscape Pavers

[ad#co-1]

Increasing curb appeal with pathways

People most often associate the use of pavers with creating simple pathways across an expanse of grass (so that nobody has to dirty their shoes getting from one area of the yard to another). And if you have a large space and you’re not keen on pouring concrete paths, this is a great alternative that is easy to pull off. You can simply nestle pavers into the lawn if you want a quick fix, but you might also consider cutting out a swath of sod where your pathway will go, filling it in with gravel or river rocks, and then placing the pavers for a look that is far more pronounced. These ideas can work in both the front and back of your house as an alternative to concrete.

Landscaping ideas and resources:

Landscaping ideas with pavers

Landscape design

Landscaping lighting

But there are actually a lot more uses for paving stones. For example, you can lay them out on a grid to create a level patio space that is a lot more appealing than a concrete slab. And with so many options for colors, sizes, and finishes when it comes to pavers, you could get really crafty planning out a complex mosaic or an artsy, organic installment for a totally unique patio surface. You could even create several small patio areas connected by pathways to lead visitors from the grilling area to the koi pond to the hammock and then over to the kids play area.

Using landscape pavers with plants & shrubs

Of course, you can also use them in concert with your planting efforts. For example, you can create boundary lines around islands of plant life in your yard, containing mounds of dirt that will soon be teeming with trees, shrubs, and flowers amidst the grassy sea of your yard. Heck, you could even use them to create a line of demarcation around the swath of synthetic turf that you use for putting practice. But you might also use some types of pavers to create retaining walls for raised beds or even free-standing planters placed throughout your yard. The wonderful thing about pavers is that they provide both utility and beauty to your space. And considering that they are both easy to obtain and easy to install, the average homeowner will no doubt find tons of uses for them when it comes to landscaping.

There is no greater nod from nature to help you sell your house than supplying your outdoors with perfect spring weather to welcome beautiful curb appeal! Whether you are considering sprucing up the front patio with planters, or you have your eye on some long overdue repairs needed on the mailbox and fence, curb appeal will make homebuyers want your home before they set foot inside. Here are helpful tips to help your some sell with fresh spring curb appeal ideas.

Brighten your curb appeal for homebuyers to take notice

Beautify and freshen up with plants: After winter’s wrath of harsh winds and freezing temperatures spring is a welcomed season for brightening your outdoor home with planters, fresh foliage in your flower beds and a well manicured lawn. Walk around your home and assess what plants are dead and need replacing and which need tender loving care. Replace old mulch in flower beds; add gravel or decorative rocks in moisture rich areas such as under downspouts and walkways to ensure quality drainage. Add flower boxes and fresh flowers to your front entry for a burst of color to welcome in potential homebuyers.

Bring plants in planters to your front porch to welcome buyers

Image via: Pinterest

Fix and repair outdoor amenities: When you consider sprucing up your spring curb appeal also look to architectural elements, fences, stepping stones, and even patio areas with barbecues and garden furniture. Check to make sure your mailbox, door numbers, and physical features of your home are not in disrepair and look welcoming. Walk around your outdoor home and check lighting around walkways and the garage too. Don’t forget curb appeal isn’t only for the daytime. Nighttime curb appeal is essential and will help homebuyers judge how safe your home is at night.

Lighting ideas for nighttime curb appeal

Image via: Houzz

Springtime curb appeal is the most important of the year, as homebuyers have been waiting all winter to hunt for homes when the weather is nice. Perk up your home’s curb appeal with these ideas for beautifying and repairing the old to make your home appeal boost up above the competition. You only get one chance to make a first impression, and most homebuyers will judge your home the moment they pull into the driveway! Get going on making a lasting impression with springtime curb appeal.
