4th of July Kids Craft: Make Colorful Pom Poms

Fourth of July is an occasion for every American to celebrate the joy of freedom and honor and remember the bravery of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country. It is a great occasion for kids too to celebrate the independence in a fun and festive way. The best way to get them involved is to make them busy with a Fourth of July kids craft that is colorful and fun but also simple and easy. The idea of making colorful pom poms by Martha Stewart is a great way to get those little hands busy with the Fourth of July fun. You can just fire up the grill and sip a cold drunk while your kids are making festive sparkles they can wave.

How to Make

  • Take a sheet of tissue paper of any of the colors and fold it vertically into thirds. Cut one edge of the folded sheet with scissors, which will produce three stacked strips. Now, you can fringe them by using the fringe cutter.
  • Repeat the same process with two more sheets of tissue paper of the two remaining colors.
  • Cut a strip of Mylar paper in a way so that it matches the segments of the fringed tissue paper sheets. Fringe with the fringe cutter.
  • Your next step is to layer the fringed segments together. Roll up an end of the wooden dowel while applying tape repeatedly along un-fringed edge of tissue paper at the same time.
  • Now, cut a cone out of the card stock with scissors. Wrap the cone around the lower side of the pom pom. Apply tape to keep it secure to the base.
  • Your pom pom is ready! Repeat the same process to make more.
