Back to School: Dormitory Room Color Inspiration

Labor Day is around the corner and that means back-to-school time is here! Whether your kid’s are young or old, getting ready for school means preparation and planning out schedules. College age students love getting back to their own places that they can call their own. Whether it is an off campus apartment or a dormitory room, college students want to make their ‘pad’ THE place to hang out!
When thinking of color themes for college students, does it seem like you never know what colors to choose? Dorm rooms can be drab and utilitarian so pep up their space with fun color themes that make them excited to stay in their 4 walls!
Here are some suggestions on what you need to make the best dorm room ever!
Checklist for Dorm Room:
- Bedding: Pillows, sheets, comforter/bed spread, mattress cover (a must!)
- Area rugs/carpet
- Lamp for desk, and bedside
- Pictures to hang on the wall, family/friend pictures
- Radio, stereo, headphones, MP3 player
- Portable fan
- Microwave and/or refrigerator (If allowed in dorm rooms)
- Iron, small ironing board
- Small decor items to make your room feel personalized to match your theme colors!

I love these ideas! When I was a freshman I went to walmart and bought a ton of purple fabric and velcro and cut it up and put it all over our walls. It was pretty awesome, everyone in our hall thought it was a great idea! And here’s a pretty funny article about dorm fridges that made my roomie and I laugh, hope you feel the same way! 😀
