DIY Holiday Pinecone Air Fresheners & Decor

Entry #3070, December 4, 2013

The holidays have finally made their way back to us once more.  We can see it in the change of weather, the updating of the décor, and also the scents in the air.  So what if you created your very own holiday air freshener that would double as a freshener and holiday décor?  Here is a DIY project that you and your kids will like doing and love hanging around the home.

  1. Collect good medium sized pinecones around your house.  Once the pine cones have been gathered, lay down the newspaper on the ground outside.  Then take a few of those pinecones and lay them on top of the newspaper.
  2. Take the can of spray paint or if you decide to do some pinecones one color and the others a different color use 2 paint cans.  Spray the pinecones until they are completely covered in the colors that you desired.
  3. Leave the pinecones to set and dry, which shouldn’t take long. Once everything has dried,  and place the colored pinecones in the glass vases.  (Feel free to mix scents, such as vanilla and Cinnamon or lavender and chamomile.) And tie a decorative ribbon that matches the colors of the pinecones around the vase.
  4. Now you have your very own holiday air freshener décor.  Place it on the fireplace, in the kitchen, on the entryway table etc.  The choice is yours!
