Make a Brick Patio

Laying a small, detached patio is one of the easiest and quickest backyard DIY projects. Make a round-shaped patio by setting the bricks on sand, concrete, or mortar base. You can also arrange them on packed spoil. In that case, option is available to grow plants in wider spaces between them. You can replace the bricks with slate, cobblestones, flagstone, or colored concrete pavers too.
Such a circled patio can be used to tuck into a perennial border. Make this patio in a place from where you can take advantage of any magnificent views.

Instead of a patio, you can also opt for making a clear path with simple steppingstones. The path will look more charming with a combination like small gravel and contrasting big stones.

Do a Gardening Project

Many people have interest in gardening. This time in the year is very suitable for growing different autumn vegetables and plants. So, you can make raised beds for making your gardening easier. Make the frame of the beds with cedar or redwood planks because they are rot-resistant and look beautiful. After that, fill it with soil mix and sow the plants you want. It is possible to make such a bed within few hours. Keep the beds in the place where they will get the maximum sun exposure.

A gardening project will be a great DIY task to do this autumn.

Making washtub planters can be another easy DIY gardening project. Buying new planters will cost a lot. So, visit thrift stores or flea markets and buy some old metal washtubs. Paint them in nice colors, put soil and plants inside them, and place them in the backyard. Do not forget to drill some holes in the bottom of the washtubs to give the plants proper drainage.

Build a Salad Box

What else can be better during this autumn season than having fresh green at your fingertips? In fact, you can have continuous supply of salad green almost throughout the year by raising a planter in your backyard.

It is a very easy DIY project that will take only a few hours. You have to buy a readymade window box and attach legs to it. Buy redwood window box and planks for legs because redwood timber is sturdy and rot-resistant. After making the planter, all you have to do is to fill it with soil and plants.

A salad box will keep fresh greens at your fingertips.
