You can find hot dogs in a sliced bun and garnished with ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, cheese, relish and so much more. The unique and classic taste of hot dogs has always been loved by a lot of people but who would think of varieties of your favorite condiments.

Although hot dogs can be eaten straight from the pan or grill, you can enhance its flavor by adding toppings. Here are some mouth-watering toppings for your hot dogs that you probably haven’t considered.

Tangy-Sweet Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apricot jam
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

Preparation

Mix 1/2 cup ketchup, 1/4 cup apricot jam, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce and 1 tablespoon rice vinegar. Brush it on raw ribs, pork or chicken.

Minted Onion Relish

Ingredients

  • 1 cup loosely packed fresh mint sprigs
  •  cups white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large sweet onions, thinly sliced and separated into rings
  • 1 (4-oz.) jar diced pimiento, drained
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint

Preparation

Cook first 4 ingredients in a Dutch oven over low heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves. Increase heat to medium, and cook 10 minutes. Pour mixture through a wire-mesh strainer into a bowl, discarding mint sprigs. Return vinegar mixture to Dutch oven, and bring to a boil. Add onion rings; bring to a boil, and boil 1 minute. Remove onion mixture from heat, and stir in diced pimiento. Cool 30 minutes. Stir 2 Tbsp. Chopped mint into onion mixture; cover and chill at least 2 hours.

Piquillo Ketchup

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup jarred roasted piquillo peppers*, patted dry
  • 1 tablespoon almond oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • Russet Frites

Preparation

Whirl ingredients in a food processor until smooth. Serve with Russet Frites.
