So, we hear that you want to bake bread? Well, with the cooler weather almost upon us, we want to do that too! Even if you have never opened a package of yeast or taken the dough hook out of the box, don’t worry a bit. Here is our easy maple wheat bread recipe for you to try that will make sure your first loaf is a success. Go ahead; it’s time to make your home smell wonderful with fall baking!
Fall Baking: Maple Wheat Bread Recipe

Total time: Preparation 30 minutes + rising bake 20 minutes + cooling
Yields: 3 loaves (12 slices each)
Ingredients
2 tablespoons active dry yeast
2 cups warm water (110 degrees to 115 degrees)
1 egg
½ cup canola oil
½ cup maple syrup
2 teaspoons salt
3 cups whole wheat flour
2 ½ to 3 cups all purpose flour
2 tablespoons melted butter

- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add oil, egg, syrup, salt, whole wheat flour, and 1 cup all purpose flour. Beat until smooth on medium speed. Stir in enough all-purpose flours in order form soft dough.
- Turn it onto a floured surface and knead until elastic and smooth, about 6 to 8 minutes. Put in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top part. Cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled, approximately 1 hour.
- Punch the dough down and shape into loaves. Place in three greased 8*4 inch loaf pans. Cover and let it rise until nearly doubled, approximately for about 40 to 45 minutes.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 18 to 22 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool. Brush with melted butter.
The best part about this maple wheat bread is that it freezes well for up-to six weeks allowing you to get a head start on your fall baking. Use it for sandwiches or try it out with honey or maple butter. We bet you will not be able to get enough of it!
