Who wouldn’t want to get changed into their sleeping attire, take their slippers off and get into a luxury, cosy bed to fall asleep in? All homeowners want to rest their head and body on a relaxing, comfy mattress. No-one wants to sleep on a hard, uncomfortable bed.

The Baldacchino Supreme is the world’s most exclusive bed by Stuart Hughes. The designer created a royal masterpiece by hand-making a bed that featured 107kg of solid 24 carat gold and the fabric used was only the finest silk on the market. Only 2 have ever been made so they are truly unique.

2006 saw the debut of a magnetic floating bed by Dutch architect Janjaap Ruijssenaars. The designer placed powerful magnets to keep 900 kilograms worth of weight afloat, around 1.3 feet off the floor. To make sure it doesn’t drift away, it is tied to the walls by wires. Ruijssenaars reportedly worked on the technology for six-years, in collaboration with Bakker Magnetics.
