White is white, right? Well, not exactly. If you’re a homeowner and picking out a white paint color for a particular room or area of your house, you may be surprised to learn all the different shades of white that exist.
Below are some considerations to ensure you’re selecting the right white for your home’s walls:
Soft White:
A soft white is a great choice if you’re seeking a color to compliment a variety of home décor. It’s versatile enough to go with any color combination you may choose and offsets furniture and artwork nicely. Paired with black accents, this color can truly bring life to a room.
Reddish White:
Red tinted shades of white work well in rooms that don’t receive much natural light. This is also a good choice for a room that has natural wood accents or earth tones, as the color warms the room up and compliments the wood.
Bright White:
Bright whites work best in rooms that receive a lot of sunlight, since it will reflect much of the light. And if your decorating style is modern, a bright white will create a stark and clean feel, and it also gives a sense of newness.
Creamy White:
A creamy white color is soothing, and is a popular selection for bedrooms for its serenity. If you’re seeking a traditional, homey look for a particular room, this hue of white is the way to go.
Antique White:
Antique whites give a room a lived-in feel, and work great with more traditional spaces. For instance, choose this color for a dining room to compliment a dark wood table and/or hardwood floors.
Like any other color, white can be as bright or as soft as you want it to be. With a plethora of undertones, the selection of white paint for your walls should be given careful consideration.
