There are a ton of sunburn treatments on the market right now. Filled with chemicals and fragrances, sometimes they can do more harm than good. But luckily there are a lot of all natural, dermatologist approved alternatives that can save you money and keep your skin healthy.
Potato:
The burn-fighting starchy compounds found in potatoes take the sting right out of your burn. Cut a raw potato into slices and rub a piece on your most painful spots. Another option is to grate cold raw potato and apply as a poultice.

Oatmeal:
Grind up oatmeal in a food processor and add to a cool bathwater and soak. Another option, if you don’t have time to soak in a bath, is to wrap the oatmeal in cheesecloth and run cool water over it while catching the water that is running through it. Then throw out the oatmeal and soak a compress in the liquid. Apply the compress every two to four hours.
Cucumbers:
You’ve heard of cucumber melon lotions that prove to be good for moisturizing your skin. Applying an actual cucumber has the same sun-burn relief properties as the store products. Mash a cucumber and apply to your sun burn. It will cool and help heal your red skin. As a bonus, a top dermatologist in Roseville recommends mixing cucumber juice with glycerin and rosewater to create a protective mixture for your pre-sunbathing skin.

White Vinegar:
Don’t use if you have blisters! Dab a little bit of distilled white vinegar onto your sunburn. It will kill the pain for at least 20 minutes. White vinegar contains acetic acid which is used in medications such as aspirin. It helps reduce itching, inflammation and pain.
Natural treatments or not, nothing beats preventing sunburn in the first place. Sun exposure and burns can lead to more extensive damage, cancer and wrinkles. Always remember to apply and reapply sunscreen when you are going to be in the sun for prolonged amounts of time.
