If you have an overly large closet and aren’t sure how to utilize it besides a storage space for clothing, think beyond what a closet is normally used for and make into a functional space! If you have plenty of room for your accessories and clothing and are in need of a storage closet or home office, don’t let the term closet stop you from transforming the space. Create a room that’s both useful and trendy and you’ll feel better that you’re finally using your closet for something that’s functional and fabulous.
Private Office:
A closet will most likely have vertical space, so if you transform a closet into a private home office it will work quite nicely! Remove the rod if you have one and keep the top shelves intact. You can either add more shelves and glass display cabinets to create more space for storing more office accessories and supplies or leave it as is. Also, if you want to add the perfect amount of charm to your new office use pretty wallpaper to surround your desk and working space. It will add character to your office and will brighten it up when you need an illusion of light.
Food Pantry:
Don’t think that a closet can be transformed into a food pantry? Matter of fact, it can. If you love to cook and don’t have enough space for your kitchen appliances and food, add more shelves to your closet and transform it into a new kitchen storage center away from your kitchen. Make the pantry user friendly by carefully organizing appliances. By organizing everything well you’ll know exactly where to find everything and you can also point family members in the right direction when they visit the new storage space to retrieve an accessory needed to create a delicious meal.
Baby Room:
It may seem strange to transform your walk in closet into a baby room, but if you have a newborn baby that wakes up easily and needs a private space to sleep in, a closet might just work out perfectly. If you’re concerned that the closet might be too private, set up a sound system so you can hear your baby wherever you are in the house. Place the crib in the back of the room for easy accessibility and have fun decorating with decals and other playful baby decorations – make it an adorable space that’s trendy and private.
Use your imagination and use your closet for whatever you need more space for in your house. If you have more shoes than clothing transform your closet into a shoe space that shows off all of your favorite heels, flats, and more. Don’t get caught up in the term closet because it’s just another great interior that can be transformed into whatever you want it to be.
