Having a bathroom that isn’t quite up to your standards can be a frustrating and annoying thing to deal with on a daily basis. Bad design can lend itself to some irritating problems that will only build up over time and exasperate you.
It might be worth taking things into your own hands, and begin a DIY project to end your bathroom misery once and for all. We’ve included a few remodelling tips for you to work into your DIY venture.

Shower screens are better than curtains
Shower curtains come with all kinds of problems. They’re a pain to clean, and it would mean buying multiple pairs of curtains so that you always have one to put up. If you’re remodelling your bathroom, you should think about having a look at some shower screens to install instead.
Shower screens are elegant, and they can do a lot to make your bathroom seem less cramped. They’re much easier to clean than shower curtains and they work well to prevent water from splashing over the rest of the bathroom.
Storage
Storage is always an issue, but it doesn’t have to be if you think about how you’re going to use storage in your bathroom. You should always plan for in-shower storage, in order to maximise the space you have. It’s much easier if you have access to your toiletries inside the shower, so you don’t have to stack them elsewhere in the bathroom where they’ll take up valuable space.
Instead of going for gaudy plastic shelving units, try and go for in-wall shelves that don’t protrude into the shower. It’s a great way of using the space you have, and the chances of knocking your bottles of shampoo over will be minimised.

Think about ventilation
Given that moisture is your bathroom’s greatest enemy, you should think carefully about how you can reduce the effects of moisture and mould on your ceiling and showerhead. Don’t skimp on a ventilation fan – the cheap ones tend to pack up after a few months and don’t really do their job anyway.
Newer models are smaller and quieter, and get the job done right. Make sure you read reviews online before you make a purchase.
Light your bathroom up
You can make your remodelling go a mile further by installing the right kind of lighting in your bathroom. Don’t go for fluorescent lighting above the mirror – it’s not the most flattering kind of light for your face. Dim lighting is nice and relaxing, and try and line up the lights near the mirror so more of your bathroom is lit up through reflection.

I totally agree with you about the lighting but not about the shower curtain. In my experience the shower curtain is easy to throw in the washing machine. Then, I hang it wet and let it dry in the bathroom. I guess it’s all personal opinion.
