Sharing a bathroom can be tough in share housing, for couples or even family homes. Most people will have to share a bathroom with at least one other person and some share with numerous other house mates depending on how many bathrooms there are and how many people live in the house. As one of the most important common areas utilized in the home, ideally it should be organised and kept relatively clean and tidy to provide a comfortable and livable environment for others. This is not the case in some homes as some may have more bathroom appliances and products than others. To help avoid these continuous trends, here are some smart storage tips for the bathroom.

Create a bathroom that has plenty of organization options
Towel racks
Dirty and wet towels being left on the floor is a huge ‘NO’ in every household. It’s easier for your kids or partner to just throw the towel in the corner. This will prevent the towel from airing out and drying, ultimately leading to a damp, mouldy and smelly towel. Towel racks or rails are the most common and convenient way to store and dry your towel after use. If you have limited rails for each use, try using a towel numerous times before washing and if too many people use the same bathroom, it is easy to install another rail above, below or beside the other rails. Basically any free space will allow a suitable area for air to flow and dry towels.
Compartmentalize
Depending on how many people use the same bathroom, divide up the storage areas evenly to cater for your belongings. First select a drawer that you will each own for toiletries such as toothpaste, floss etc. and be the sole user of that drawer. If there is shelving or cupboard space in the bathroom also divide them up by suitable sections and utilize your own convenient space. Same goes for any shelving or cupboard space.
Extra or unused space
Any unused space is an opportunity to make small modifications to create extra storage space in your bathroom. Any vacant walls could be used to install towel racks as mentioned earlier. Extra shelving could also be installed on a vacant wall to create space for excess towels, linen and cleaning products. Under the basin is a commonly misused space. In among all the plumbing pipes creates and awkward space to store products or appliances. You can pick up door racks that sit comfortably in or outside doors which create extra shelving and rails for excess storage.

Organize your bathroom with these helpful tips
Storage facilities
There is more vertical space available in the bathroom than horizontal space. You can purchase trendy fixtures from numerous outlets that will fit and manoeuvre conveniently in your bathroom. As you have more vertical space, pick up tall and narrow shelving, racks or similar fixtures that will allow more storage space without cluttering the area. Even small shelving units or under-storage units will create just the extra amount of space required. There are numerous ways to find or create space in your bathroom to avoid the hassle and clutter from everyone’s belongings. You just need to be somewhat creative and use minimal common sense to help solve this common household issue.
