Ingredients
20 glazed doughnut holes
20 gummies or gummie Life Savers candies for the eyes
20 candy-coated milk chocolate candies (medium sized)
Premier white morsels (1 cup)
Solid vegetable shortening (2 tablespoons)
Red food color (2 drops)
Preparation
- Line cookie sheet with waxed or parchment paper.
- Take the doughnut holes and cut slices from the two opposite sides of each hole. The slices should be 1/8-inch thick.
- Take the solid vegetable shortening and white morsels in a microwave-safe bowl. Place the bowl inside the microwave to melt the ingredients.
- Now, take the doughnut holes and dip them into the morsels mixture. Dip one hole at a time and use a fork to do that.
- After the coating, shake off the excess morsels mixture. Put the coated holes on the cookie sheet with their cut-side down.
- Put the gummies on top of the coated doughnuts. After that, coat the chocolate candies with the morsels mixture and press the candies onto the gummies.
- Let the doughnuts cool in refrigerator for 10 minutes until the coating is set.
- Take two tablespoons of morsels mixture in a small bowl. Drop 2 drops of red food color into the mixture.
- Now, use this red-colored morsels mixture to paint the eyeballs and scary veins on the doughnuts.
Let the doughnuts to chill in the refrigerator. Take out before serving. These eyeballs will make a simultaneously scary and fun Halloween treat.
