Halloween Party Food: Not so Horrifying Mummy Dogs

No party is complete without some decent hot dogs on the buffet. They are loved by grown-ups and kids alike and they are very easy to make. A way to make them suitable for any Halloween Party is to dress them up like mummies. It is easy and fun, and kids can help, too. Just give it this Halloween Party Food: Not so Horrifying Mummy Dogs a try!

Directions

1. First things first: preheat your oven to about 400o. Next, unroll your dough and cut it into 12 strips. You can use a pizza cutter for easier cutting. Aim for strips with 8 inches of length; you can stretch the dough carefully. If there are perforations in your dough sheet, you can seal them by pressing them or rolling over them with a rolling pin.

2. Take a strip and wrap it around a hot dog lengthwise. Don’t forget to leave a little piece on one end of the hot dog unwrapped in order to have room to make the “face”.  Do the same with the other strips and hot dogs. You can use wooden sticks to secure them.

3. Spray the hot dogs lightly with cooking spray and place them on a baking tray or sheet which should be lightly greased.

4. Bake the hot dogs for about 15 minutes, or until they have a nice golden brown color. Take them out of the oven and let them stand five minutes before removing the wooden sticks, if you used them.

5. Now you can draw some features with the mustard and ketchup to make the mummy’s face. Serve with a simple Halloween dip: fill a bowl with ketchup and draw a spider’s web with mustard.

It’s easy to make some variations to this Halloween recipe. You can add some slices of cheese or substitute the plain dough with a flavored one, like garlic flavored dough. Or use mini hot dogs to make even cuter mummy dogs. Just let Halloween be your inspiration!
