Nothing yells summer more than preparing and eating your meals outdoors. If you haven’t already, it’s time to fire up the grill. To help you get started, we point you this delicious prawns recipe with fruit salsa. Whether it’s for a holiday like Father’s Day, Fourth of July, or Labor Day or for a backyard barbecue, unplanned picnic or a birthday bash, this recipe is just perfect for summer grilling.
Summer Grilling: Grilled Prawns with Fruit Salsa

Total time: 40 minutes preparation + 05 minutes cooking
Yields: 6 servings
Ingredients
2 teaspoons hot chili sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
2 tablespoons coriander, chopped
2 crushed garlic cloves
60 ml lime juice and 3 small limes cut into thin wedges
24 green prawns, peeled (keep the tails intact)
12 thin lemongrass stems
Steamed rice to serve
Fruit Salsa Ingredients
1 mango, flesh finely chopped
1 cucumber or avocado, finely chopped
½ small red papaya
1 long red chili, finely chopped (seeds removed)
1 tablespoon fish sauce
1 tablespoon lime juice
Procedure
- In a bowl, combine sauces, ginger, honey, coriander, garlic, and juice. Toss with prawns and let it chill for 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine fruit salsa ingredients and let it chill until needed.
- Thread prawns onto lemongrass stems, alternating with lime wedges.
- Heat a chargrill pan or barbecue on medium to high heat. Cook prawns for 1-2 minutes on each side until cooked and lightly charred. Serve with fruit salsa and rice.
