Sometimes you just have to do like in the golden days, when seasoned neighbors would bring baskets of food to the new neighbors.  Except this time you will be putting a twist on things.  For your tailor made basket, you want to choose an idea that will suit the needs of your comrades.  For instance, they may like to eat so you would want to create a meal basket; get some pasta noodles, a good recipe, sauces, spices or herbs and put all of the ingredients into a pot or porcelain bowl and wrap a bow around it and give it to them.  The same goes well with a tool box basket, cleaning supplies basket, a wine basket etc.  The choice is yours.

Maybe your acquaintances are moving to a new area and don’t know anything about it.  Do some research for them; find out where the local markets, grocery stores, malls, restaurants, libraries, public transportation systems, retail stores or Home Depot stores are located.  Once you have gathered all of your information type it out on to paper, putting the names with addresses, and organize it in a book like the “Get-To-Know-The Town” packets that you find in hotel rooms, and present it to them for the housewarming party.  This housewarming gift will make it easier when they are trying to find their way around.

There is nothing as soothing and harmonizing like candles and luxurious toiletries mix.  Candles in any atmosphere can create a warm calming vibe to any space.  Not only will the candle invite a serene feel, but they have beautiful scents as well as a great way to light your home if severe weather problems occur and take out the power, visit your local bath and body works or Yankee Candle for which to purchase.  Toiletries are just flat out great to have, and for some reason you can never have too much of them.  So visit your local crate barrel, world market, Williams-Sonoma and select luxurious hand soaps, hand lotions, fabric sprays, kitchen and bath soap etc. that will go well with the décor for your buddies.

Plants are an ever popular gift all around.  Think about it for Valentine’s Day roses and lilies are given or even Christmas poinsettias are placed.  Well keep with the tradition and buy an indoor plant for your housewarming gift.  You can make them a centerpiece with the buds of the flowers floating on top of water in a glass bowl, or purchase an indoor plant like small bamboo plant they are easy to maintain and help to neutralize the odor in the space.  Or maybe they want to start their own garden then purchase a planter pot, vegetable or flora seeds with a book and some tutorials about gardening.  For extras, throw in a beginners gardening tool kit.
