With the arrival of autumn, who would not like to spend Sundays curled up on a couch with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book?
Here are a few tips to help you create a little corner in your home reserved for those lazy winter days.
1. The place:
An empty, quiet corner in your house, a bay window or an alcove will work just fine for a book nook. I love the idea of even emptying out a large cupboard to create a hidden retreat. Use your imagination and think of areas in your house with the least distractions and a bit of space.

2. The perfect seat:
Comfort is the most important factor here. Think of seating options that you can spend hours on without hurting your neck. Pick the most comfortable armchair or a couch if you have the space. Depending on the area available, a comfy bean bag or floor cushions will also work well. Make it comfortable by adding a few pillows, a throw and a cushy rug to keep your feet warm.
3. The lighting:
Since you will be using your cozy nook to read, lighting is of utmost importance. A source of natural light from behind would be ideal, but if you don’t have such a luxury, place floor lamps or overhead lamps to light up the area.

4. The knick – knacks:
Finally, go ahead and personalize your little corner. Place a small side table to hold your cup of hot chocolate, a journal and a few pens. Add a bookshelf if there is space or neatly stack the books on the floor. You can also use a basket to store your books and magazines. If there is a blank wall behind you, consider adding floating shelves for books, photo frames and other knick knacks.

Keep your cozy corner simple and uncluttered, this will very soon become your place of refuge and peace. It is a book lover’s dream and does not require sophisticated designing skills to build one.
