A good number of homes have relatively small bathrooms. While you may not be able to enlarge your bathroom, there are ways to maximize space. In order to have a new look for your bathroom, you must first decide on a theme or the overall design you wanted. You can mix and match your resources at home and recycle or repurpose decorative to become a bathroom accessory. For instance, you may redesign the frame of an old painting and hang it on your bathroom wall and add a mirror for new look. Here are a few things you have to consider in designing your bathroom.

Emphasize safety
There is no greater way to build a bathroom than being safe. Safety is an utmost concern especially in the bathroom since it often has wet floors. You have to choose a flooring material like rough or anti-slippery tiles for your bathroom floor. You may also place a non-slip mat as safety accessory. A handrail may be necessary if there are elderly or physically challenged at home. If you have kids, make sure that all razors, scissors and other sharp utensils must be out of their reach.
Consider future renovations
Think long term especially if you are spending a substantial amount of money. Ensure that the design is not very hard to alter or renovate. Think of it as something you can easily remove or replace after several years. One example of this is a careful planning in plumbing. You have to consider future installation of a tub, faucet or shower that can still be catered without breaking too many tiles of your bathroom wall.

Simple is beautiful
When you have limited space in your bathroom, minimize the amount of decorative items on the bathroom counter, and on the floor. Maximize and simplify it. For instance, a storage cabinet with mirror can store several bathroom toiletries, small beauty appliances, makeup and more. If you don’t have floor space lift these items up off the floor and store them on shelves or build cabinets. Vertical space is one of the most underused areas of a bathroom.
It is very essential give the same attention to the bathroom as to the other rooms. Ensure that you have high quality of materials used in the construction. There are lots of toilet bowls, sinks and bathtubs available in the market with different sizes and designs. Take your time shopping for the best. Use these helpful tips to make the most of your small bathroom.
