Travel Locally or Staycation
Instead of travelling outside your state, stay local. Visiting local attractive spots than somewhere far away will save a major portion of your cost. However, try to avoid local beaches as they remain really crowded during Memorial Day weekend.
Staycation is not a bad option too, as this trend has been growing popular over the last few years. Instead of traveling at all, you can enjoy your vacation in the comforts of your home! Throw your own Memorial Day celebration by raising flag, setting up the Slip n’ Slide, and turning on the grill. By arranging a backyard-barbeque party, you can save a lot because many grocery stores offer fantastic savings on cookout supplies during this weekend.

Honor the True Heroes
Memorial Day is the time to show respect to those heroes who dedicated their lives for the country. So, if you have any gravesite of departed soldiers in your locality, visit there, decorate the tombstones with flowers or wreaths, and pray for them or sing songs. You can also celebrate the day by visiting any soldier of war who is living in your locale. Bake some cookies, buy flowers, make some miniature flags, and head to the soldier’s home. Give your presents to the old hero, listen to his stories, praise him, and thank him for the things he had done for the country.

Stay Indoors
You should also make a back-up indoor plan in case the weather turns bad during the vacation. Moreover, indoor program will save your wallet too. You can enjoy a movie festival during that time. Pick a theme like animation movies, dog movies, western movies, or Disney favorites. Pop some popcorn, order some chicken wings, and run with the rented movies. In case if you are a bookworm, you can pass the day hanging out at your personal library, reading a book, listen to an audiobook, and surfing the net.
Outdoors, Pool Party, or Backyard Barbeque
Most people will totally love to have a summer barbeque party on the Memorial Day. Fortunately, such parties can be very frugal. Hamburgers and hot dogs are always favorite choices for Memorial Day parties and you have to spend less than $30 to feed hotdogs to 100 people. Save dollars by arranging for a BYOB or pot-luck party. Pool parties are also an inexpensive but fun way to enjoy the Memorial Day. On the other hand, outdoor activities like having a picnic, going to a park, or taking a hike is a great opportunity to soak up the sunshine. So, if the weather is good, go for an outdoor venture, which also fits a frugal lifestyle. You can also throw a karaoke party with family and friends. Set up a mini bar and serve cocktails with Patriotic names if you like to have more fun in such parties.
