Memorial Day weekend is the harbinger of summer and people usually have many sweet memories attached to it. These bright, sunny days when school is almost out are perfect times for enjoying outdoor events.

Weather & Location
The location of the picnic will depend on the number and age group of your guests. If your picnic is going to have small kids too, the first thing you have to consider is safety. For example, a waterfall or a moonlit rooftop will be a nice spot for a romantic picnic for two or for some close friends but you cannot invite small children into these places. On the other hand, listen to weather forecast to make sure that you can hold your picnic in a sunny and warm day.
Plan for a Pot-luck Party
If you are going to arrange for a large picnic instead of a family gathering, you should plan for a pot-luck picnic. In such picnics, everyone is responsible to bring a particular food item and thus relieves the host from bringing all the foods and supplies. Give clear instructions about who will bring what to avoid having any item more than necessary.

Choose a Delicious Menu
An awesome Memorial Day picnic deserves some fabulous, mouth-watering food items too. You have to choose such items that are great for toting along or just serving at a casual barbeque. For example, grilled lemon chicken served with roasted asparagus, peppery caprese pasta salad, and brownies will be a wonderful menu for any picnic. Grilled chicken is a classic dish that is perfect for any cookout and pasta salad is very easy to prepare. On the other hand, asparagus will make the meal healthy.
Do not Forget Some Necessary Items
Apart from foods, you should not forget taking some other necessary items like cutlery, plates, and napkins to serve foods. Take plastic bags for trash and blankets and chairs to sit on. In addition, do not forget sunscreen and bug repellent, as you may need them badly.
Precautions for Goods & Food Items
In order to have a stress-free picnic, you have to choose goods and foods that are sturdy enough to withstand transport. It also should not take a moving van to take your picnic to the selected location. For safety reasons, the food items have to be preserved at proper temperature. The task should be easy with convenient coolers and chill-packs. If it is a midday picnic, avoid those foods that spoil quickly. In addition, try to set up the buffet table under some kind of shades.

Picnics are a great way to spend some pleasurable time with friends and family. Late May picnics are usually the most fun because you can celebrate them with colorful, healthy seasonal foods like crusty sweet new potatoes, sugary peas, early tomatoes, juicy red strawberries, and green fresh herbs.
