When summer entertaining is in full swing there is nothing better to enjoy! The warm weather, cool nights and plenty of friends and family visiting create the perfect setting for entertaining. Whether you gather around the pool and have a barbecue or you just sit back on your front porch with a neighbor enjoying a cool drink consider what plants around these areas will enhance the experience. Plants provide a cooling effect, shade and often aromatic touches to the warm air. Here are landscaping tips to prepare for summer entertaining.
Getting the barbecue area for entertaining:
Who doesn’t love to barbecue during the summer? Although, standing around a smoky barbecue and lack of shade can quickly make your entertaining efforts fall flat. Consider hanging flowers or planting climbing vines around an arbor or trellis for shade, and to add visual interest. This will provide a focal point for your backyard, while also giving the cook and guests a comfortable area to enjoy the summer meal.
Brighten your porch with landscaping:
depending on the size of your porch you can use planters, window boxes, hanging baskets and topiary plants to soften the lines of the hard concrete, and wood on your patio. Especially when entertaining a fresh pot of blooms in the center of an outdoor dining table or side table can brighten your patio instantly. Don’t forget to screen out unsightly areas too! Adding a bamboo screen in front of an unsightly air conditioner unit can bring visual interest to your porch without hindering the gorgeous display of plants you already have.
Brighten up your outdoor home while entertaining family and friends with these helpful landscaping tips. Consider visiting your local home improvement store for a wide variety of landscaping options. Consider your climate before planting, and sit back and enjoy your guests in your outdoor home.
