Memorial Day DIY Craft - Customized Vase -

Memorial Day is fast approaching and everyone is looking for ways to honor the heroes who gave their lives for our freedom. If you are artistic or love to make things from scratch, give this Memorial Day DIY project a try. The best part is that you can use the craft all summer long. You can use it on July 4th as well as Labor Day. Follow these instructions to make it.

Memorial Day DIY Craft – Customized Vase

Things You Will Need

File
Glue stick
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Empty tin can
Ornament
Double-sided tape
Red construction paper
Pinking shears (optional)
2 sheets of scrapbook paper with patriotic patterns (12”x12”)

Directions

Clean and dry the tin can. Use the file to smoothen any sharp edges.
Cut the construction paper to match the height and width of the can. Make it 1” longer so it can cover the can properly.
Cover the tin with the paper and seal its edges with the glue stick.
Cut 2 long strips from the scrapbook paper. Make them 1” longer than the can so that they can wrap it nicely.
Wrap the first strip around the upper part of the tin and seal its edge with the tape. Place the second strip on the lower part of the tin and also seal it.
Use the shears to cut a strip from a different scrapbook. This will go around the tin and must be small in size. Make it 1” longer than the width of the can.
Place the strip around the can and seal its edge with tape.
Affix the ornament on the circular strip with hot glue.
Add water and flowers and ensure you don’t wet the paper.

DIYer’s Note

If you’re not a fan of scrapbooks, simply cover the tin and add your decoration.
