Looking for a dessert ideas for a New Year’s Eve party? Then try this delicious egg nog flavored cake. Wonderful for gatherings, it’s a rich, festive holiday treat suitable for all ages. While it’s quick and easy to make, you can always make it ahead, wrap it well, freeze and take it out just few hours before serving.
New Year’s Eve Egg Nog Cake

Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Yields: 10 servings
Ingredients
2 cups flour
1-tablespoon baking powder
¼-cup butter, room temperature
¼-cup shortening
1-teaspoon salt
2 eggs, room temperature
1-teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼-teaspoon ginger
1-cup white sugar
¾-cup milk
1/4-cup egg nog
1-teaspoon rum or flavored extract

Procedure
1. Grease and flour an 8-inch loaf pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Sift baking powder, flour, nutmeg, salt and ginger together and set aside.
3. In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugar, and shortening until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Then add the rum extract. Alternately with the milk and egg nog, beat in the flour mixture. Mix well. Pour batter into greased pan.
4. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately one hour or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
