Adding Spring Colors to Your Living Room

Entry #3348, March 19, 2014

Now that spring is here, is your home feeling ready for a rebirth? Picture your living room in a rainbow of colors. What could be better than that? Spring colors add energy and brightness to your home and help you to welcome the season in cheery style. They help you to forget about winter and look forward to bright summer. From vivid hues to serene shades, here’s how to prepare your living room for spring. Try these ideas to add spring colors to your living room.

Play With Pastels and Prints

If you love prints and pastels, use them in your living room. Add floral throw pillows to your sofa or hang window treatments in warm colors. You can also add colorful throws and vases to reflect the season. Choose pieces that sing spring and brim with lovely citrus colors. Remember to create unity between all your accents and ensure they work together to make the room look unified and comfortable. If you don’t want to spend a fortune, raid flea markets for inexpensive pieces.

Refresh with Paint

Spring colors are light, airy, and give a room a vibrant look. They can easily change your space from dull to spectacular. When choosing a shade of paint, go for one that makes you feel happy. Try it on a small part of the room before applying it on the entire room. You can also paint one accent wall instead of painting the entire room. Match the paint color to accents like window treatments or rugs. This is because it’s normally easier to match paint color to accessories or fabrics than the other way round.

Bring in Houseplants

Bring in the main color of spring with houseplants. Spring is a time when everything is green, when plants thrive and flowers bloom. Houseplants give your living room a touch of nature and add warmth and balance. If you have a medium-sized living room, get two or three plants.

Spring is a welcome time of year after a long, harsh winter. Capturing the essence of spring gives your home plenty of cheer and fresh style. Spring colors are a great way to decorate your living room. They add a sense of openness to the space and reflect the seasonal colors outside.
