DIY Craft Idea: Playful Easter Wreath Ideas

Wreath Making Supplies:

Artificial grass or Spanish moss

Plain foam wreath form or grapevine wreath form

Plastic Easter Eggs

Hot glue gun

Raffia ribbon

Ribbon for hanging

Decorative items like birds, nests, bunnies (optional)

Easter Wreath Directions:

1. First you will need to attach the moss or grass to the wreath by either tucking it firmly into the openings or using drops of hot glue to secure it.
2. Next, attach your decorations with hot glue or florist wire and also glue the Easter eggs onto the wreath, arranging them beautifully. It’s a good idea to practice the arrangement of the items by spreading them on a table so to get an idea on how to glue them onto the wreath. That way you won’t be disappointed by the end result.
3. Wind some raffia ribbon loosely around the wreath.
4. Use the decorative ribbon to hang your wreath on your door or in front of a window. Enjoy!
5. You can omit the moss or grass and decorations and still have a great looking wreath! Just make sure to arrange the eggs in some order to get a nice look and choose beautiful eggs that bring spring into your home.

Let the Walls do the Talking

One extremely influential and dynamic area to add color to your kitchen is by utilizing the walls.  You can go with the ever popular and cost effective painting the walls.  Go as bold as you would like with a vibrant red or as subtle as soft tints of green, just be aware of the color palette you choose because some colors can be overwhelming or induce certain emotions within the space.  Or you can decide to use colorful backsplash for hints of color instead of coloring the entire space.

Again, say you just want hints of color not so much an entire area of color then select certain parts of the kitchen.  Add color to the cabinetry, countertops, seat cushions or even kitchen appliances.  You can opt for one main color or mix and match or even go with a color scheme to help with the winter decor of your kitchen.  Try add a vibrant dynamic color then balancing it with a neutral.  Check some home magazine, they might even help with getting colorful designs for the hints f colors within your space.

Creating Focal Points

So you don’t want a whole entire colored kitchen or spots of color around then how about just one main area with color?  Try having an accent wall with tiled backsplash or a draped cloth on the wall, or with artwork or even paint an illusion with paint the counter tops and a run of cabinets to give the illusion of a free standing hutch.  That way you can still have the color and not have your eyes bounce around the space.

One of the favorite Christmas decoration traditions is to have each year an addition to your ornament collection. Some buy a fabulous ornament from a store, but isn’t it much more fun and creative to just make your own? You can make one or more creative DIY Christmas ornaments, depending on the use for the ornaments. Other than decorating your Christmas tree, they are great for giving away, making wreaths, using as decoration for presents and decorate the house with.

Decorating Ornaments From The Outside

One of the simplest methods is to buy some clear ornaments and paint them or wrap them with whatever you feel like. You can use glass paint, enamel paint pens or glitter paint for making your own creations. Also, wrapping them with fabric scraps – even from clothing that you love and cherish but no longer use, such as baby clothing – or paper or even yarn is a wonderful idea.

To make such a wrapped ornament you can use Styrofoam balls, paper or fabric, a paintbrush, glue, a ribbon, a bowl with soap and water and a rug. Cover the ball with glue and cover it with the fabric or paper scraps. Paint again with glue and let them dry. Glue two strains of the ribbon to make a loop for the ornament to hang from.

An even easier way is to take yarn and wrap the ball completely, or to use a large piece of nice fabric, using glue to keep everything in place. Just wrap the ball in it, tie the top with a matching ribbon and maybe adding some holy leaves and berries and it can be awesome.

Decorating Ornaments From The Inside

To do that you will have to buy some clear glass ornaments balls from your craft shop. There are endless things you can fill those ornaments up with. You can fill them with paint or some sparkling nail polisher and shake the ball so the fluid goes everywhere.

Or you can fill them with tiny bells or beads. Other items that are great are sequins, glitter dust, candies, ribbons and whatever else can be fitted through the opening. Even rosemary or lavender branches, branches with holy leaves and berries, or evergreens are a great way to go.

Also, scraps of paper that have meaningful words written on them or even photos can be used as well. That way, you can even create a sort of “time capsule”, filled with notes of important events, pictures or even small items that mean something to you.

Use Felt And Imagination

Out of colorful felt fabric you can create the nicest ornaments. You can use templates available for free on the internet and follow the simple instructions. There is no end to the ornaments you can create. Just to name a few, you can choose between Snowmen, Reindeers, Santa, Christmas Trees and Angels, which are really simple to make and a lot of fun.

Up-cycle Items You Don’t Longer Need

There are so many things in our homes that have great potentials we just don’t think off. So, why not take a plunge into your children’s toy box. Maybe you can find some plastic horses, fairies or wooden cubes that can be used as they are or painted on. The wooden cubes can be painted with glitter paint and wrapped with a ribbon to make cute gift ornaments.

Use round bottle caps to paint them white and make some snow men. If you have wooden sticks of different lengths you can easily make a tree.

Even small mason jars can be filled with fake snow and seasonal items to make a nice ornament. To hang them just make a hole through the lid or wrap twine around them.

Add some cute ribbons and you will have all the ornaments you need!

For many of you (including me) may live in a 1970’s – early 1990’s home in which the spray on gypsum pebbles or “popcorn” ceiling is an applied finish to the gypsum board. For many of you – it may have glitter in it! Today you will learn how to get rid of the popcorn for a clean surface or to apply a new ceiling finish.

Steps to Remove a Popcorn Ceiling

When you try to consider a home makeover, one of the least considered is the ceiling. It’s not that the ceiling is the least important. But the ceiling is often attributed to lighting fixtures more than as decorative area. However, you will definitely appreciate what your ceiling can do to enhance your home interior once you make the most out of it.

One of the common problems for ceiling is the popcorn looks. It’s been primarily brought about by the inappropriate painting procedure. This kind of unpleasant view can be prevented by making the right move from start to finish.

To prevent this from happening, here’s how to easily remove a popcorn ceiling:

Prepare the room

This step is sometimes taken for granted. Preparing the room before working is very important, not only when you need to remove popcorn ceiling. To do this, you need to clear everything that may obstruct your movements. Also, remove the furniture and decorative items on the wall. You can seal off the entire room to protect them from getting dirt, paint and scratch. Another important step in the preparation is to provide proper ventilation. Also, don’t forget to place a drop cloth to secure the floor.

Spray the Ceiling

You can do this by simply using a garden spray to wet the ceiling. The water will soften the texture and the adhesive bond. It doesn’t have to be very wet. A nice sprinkle will be enough to scrape the ceiling easily. Too much water will cause damage to the surface. Also, concentrate on a single area at a time. This will ensure that you don’t skip a spot ready for scraping.

Scrape the Ceiling

Before you actually start scraping, you have to wait for at least 10-15 minutes. The main reason for this is for the water to soak in. This is a very important process that will make scraping easier and effective. A decent putty knife is very effective in scraping the corners of your ceiling. It can also be used for crown molding.

By following these steps, you can be sure that popcorn looks don’t have a space in your ceiling. Take these steps seriously so you can prevent future problem like popcorn looks at your ceiling.
