When people think of Thanksgiving gifts for the host, they think of wine bottles, flowers, or pastries. Chances are the other guests will bring one of these presents, and there’s nothing as boring as getting similar presents.
Thanksgiving food ideas: Sweet Scarecrows:

They don’t seem that scary, do they? They are easy to make, too. You just need round cookies, white frosting, sugar wafers, candy corn and for the finer decorations some mini chocolate chips, bran cereal for the hair, chocolate sprinkles and whatever you think that will make these guys cuter. To stick the hat to the head ,use the white frosting.

Thanksgiving Dessert: Chocolate Cookie Turkey:

Those cute turkeys are quite simple to make, but patience is needed for them to dry. You will need chocolate vanilla crème cookies, candy corn, peanut butter cups – which must be cut on the one end so they are leveled – chocolate frosting, yellow and red frosting, whoppers and some sprinkles for the eyes. To stick the candy corn, the peanut butter cups, the whoopers and the cookies to each other, you will need to use the chocolate frosting as glue. The turkey’s nose is made of the cut tip of a candy corn.

Thanksgiving Snack Recipe Ideas:

Need Thanksgiving appetizer and snack ideas? To make them, you will need some cocktail pumpernickel bread and cream cheese. For the decoration you can use peas, red, green and yellow pepper, cheese, cashewnuts, almonds, parsley and all the things you can think of, that can make them yummy looking. We also love these 109 Thanksgiving appetizer recipes from Delish.com

1. Easy DIY Thanksgiving Centerpiece Ideas

While flower markets are a little less colorful in the colder months, you shouldn’t make your table suffer because of that. Choose flowers that are in season to add a wow factor. Create a centerpiece with berried branches, tiny pumpkins, and leafy greens. Tuck these into a wooden bowl to make a showpiece that spells autumn.

2. Get Creative with Pumpkin Decor

Decorated pumpkin decor can set the tone for a lovely table spread. Embellish your pumpkins with fresh flowers and candles. To make your centerpieces last past thanksgiving, replace the fresh flowers and pumpkins with silk flowers and faux pumpkins. Attach the flowers to the pumpkins with hot glue before you add the candles. You can use the centerpieces throughout the year or store them for next thanksgiving.

3. Mini Pumpkin Tree Centerpiece Ideas

So simple and yet so cute looking! Just fill a few cylindrical vases with birdseeds or nuts, in order to keep the branches standing nicely. Take some good looking mini pumpkins and suspend them with twine. Now arrange them to hang on the branches and over an arrangement of other seasonal items, like pine cones, berries, branches, more pumpkins and candles.

4. Flowers And Fruits Centerpiece In A Wooden Vessel

Try making an eye-catching centerpiece, arranged with seasonal flowers and fruits, using autumn tones. Firstly, choose a beautiful, natural, wooden container to use as a vessel or you can make your own, by attaching birch bark on the sides of a pine box with heavy-duty staples. Next, line the box on the inside with some heavy duty plastic and add floral foam, in order to support the flowers. Use any suitable flowers, berries, branches and fruits, even vegetables in colors of your choosing.

5. Elegant White Pumpkin Thanksgiving Centerpiece Ideas

For an elegant centerpiece for the Thanksgiving table, use a nice, slim wooden box and arrange in it some small or mini white pumpkins and small white flowers, like tiny roses and white calla lilies. A few pheasant feathers or some other matching decorations give this arrangement the final twist.

6. Candle Centerpiece

A centerpiece that is not too overwhelming, simple to make but remains a wonderful assembling, is the following one. Arrange some beautiful autumn leafs, pine cones and berries around matching candles. Use different sizes and types of fall candles and candleholders, which match with the placemats and napkins that will be used, and you will have a beautiful arrangement.

We love these fall table decorations on Stagetecture, too!

7. Use Herbs in your Thanksgiving Centerpieces

What better way to show your love for the season than to create a centerpiece comprised of your favorite autumn herbs? Herbs smell great and can bring to mind fond memories. To create your thanksgiving centerpiece, fill a glass vase with different types of herbs like rosemary, thyme, and sage. If your container is small, you can create several centerpieces and arrange them at the center of the table.

8. Create a Vegetable Thanksgiving Centerpieces

If you have an eye for texture and color, head to the vegetable aisle of your local grocery store. Here you’ll find purple cabbage, curly lettuce, artichoke, kale, and other colorful vegetables. You can arrange them on a shallow footed tray and surround it with floating candles. You can also remove the center of the cabbage and replace it with a jar of water or florist’s foam and put a few blooms inside.

9. Natural DIY Thanksgiving Centerpiece Ideas

A fun, very natural and original idea is to take a gathered tree branch and use it as a tea light candleholder by drilling some holes into it. This inexpensive idea can be completed by arranging nuts, leafs, various pumpkins, pinecones and flowers on the side of the branch. It will for sure be a special Thanksgiving centerpiece that would be ideal for an outdoor Thanksgiving table!

10. Personalized Place Settings

Everyone likes having a place at the table, just ask the kids when they get older and make it to the “Big People” table. Make everyone feel special this Thanksgiving evening with specialized table toppers. Pick any fruit, nut, pumpkins or paper craft of any item that represents the holiday and take little strips of paper, write the person’s name on, place each of those strips in the item and place them around the table next to the plates or in front of them. Not only will this add to the ambiance but make everyone feel included and for kicks you can add little quotes or jokes to the strips of paper for each person.

We all know that a beautifully decorated Thanksgiving dinner table creates a warm and welcoming feeling. But what about the rest of your house? Why not extend the thankful feeling to other parts of your house too? Your kids are guaranteed to get excited when you decorate and spread the love to unexpected places especially their bedroom. Here are some interesting kids’ bedroom ideas that will help you update their sanctuary for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Pastel and natural hues are perfect for Thanksgiving too!

[ad#co-1]

Handmade crafts

Use your kid’s existing holiday decorations to add personality to his/her space. Decorate a box where your little one can keep the craft pieces he/she makes at school every year. Find any of your kid’s artwork that features fall/thanksgiving colors and display it around the bedroom. Take time to work on crafts like a Thanksgiving Pinecone Turkey made out of pinecones and colorful feathers.

Pumpkin decor

When it comes to Thanksgiving décor, you can use the season itself to seek inspiration. And we all know that pumpkins are inseparable from the season. So, whether you decorate them, carve them, or use them as candle holders, they will certainly be an exciting addition to your kid’s bedroom. Carve cartoon figures, funny faces, or simply go pumpkin painting. Involve your kids and have their creative juices flowing.

Thanksgiving Kid’s Bedroom Decor

Image via: Emma In Bromley

Bedroom door

Bedroom door is the first thing that your child sees before stepping in, so why not add a little holiday flair? But make sure not to overdo it. Consider a beautifully decorated turkey with a welcoming sign “Enter This Room With A Thankful Heart” or stick leaves/turkey feathers with things written that your kids are thankful for.

Decorate with colors

Traditional colors for Thanksgiving decorating are brown and orange. So, shake things up to match the existing décor in your kid’s bedroom. Dress up a white comforter with a thick, fun print throw. Add soft, stuffed fall-themed pillows to your kid’s bed for him/her to snuggle up on a cozy autumn evening.

A fall mural makes this bedroom ready for fall

Image via: Design Dazzle

Don’t limit the holidays to the living room only. It’s much more fun if other areas of your house are holiday ready too, especially when it comes to updating your kid’s bedroom. Who knows, it just might make putting them in bed a little easier.

Whether it’s for two people or twenty, hosting Thanksgiving dinner is a huge undertaking. After all, people look forward to this meal all year long. However, there’s no need to have a meltdown just yet – a little organization goes a long way towards managing pre-dinner stress. Below are four easy Thanksgiving organizational tips to make hosting this Thanksgiving a breeze.

Helpful Last-Minute Thanksgiving Organization Tips

Cornucopia make for great Thanksgiving centerpieces.

Image Via: Better Homes and Gardens

Compile One List:

The best thing about Thanksgiving is having a veritable smorgasbord of dishes at your disposal. But managing the several ingredient lists and cooking times needed to create that buffet can get tricky. Make things easier on yourself by grouping them all into one. About a week before the event, pull out all the recipes you intend on making and merge everything into a giant shopping list and step-by-step cooking guide. While this may take a bit of time to put together, it is well worth the effort. You’ll avoid emergency trips to the store or overcooking a staple dish.

Combine all those recipes into one master list to keep things organized.

[ad#co-1]

Embrace Make Ahead Recipes:

There’s no rule that says everything eaten on Thanksgiving needs to be made that morning. Use the refrigerator to your advantage and start cooking in the days leading up to the holiday. Desserts and dishes such as macaroni and cheese will keep for a quite a long time, if properly stored. Then, the day before, work on assembling time-consuming ingredients such as caramelized onions or hardboiled eggs. That way, you’ll only have to worry about reheating these items on the big day.

Dishes like macaroni and cheese can easily be made in advance and reheated on Thanksgiving Day.

Image Via: Food Network

Know Your Dishware:

Dishware is an often overlooked, but essential component of the Thanksgiving meal. All that delicious food has to be stored somewhere, right? The night before the big meal, take stock of your dishware and decide which pieces work for each recipe. Then, label them with post-it notes to avoid any confusion. If you’re feeling particularly ambitious, you can also set your table before heading to bed. It will be one less thing to worry about in the midst of cooking.

Don’t forget your dishware

Image Via: Fiskars

Go Pot-Luck Style:

If you’re truly overwhelmed by the idea of hosting dinner, don’t be afraid to ask for a little assistance. Call your guests and politely ask each of them a specific dish. Just be sure that you have a good feel for those on your invite list. Your vegetarian aunt will likely jump at the chance to bring a veggie-packed side dish, while it’s probably best to assign dessert to your friend who always manages to be half an hour late.

Happy DIY Saturday! Thanksgiving Day is approaching and everything is planned in detail, from a great menu, beautiful tableware and up to an amazing table setting. The one thing you could add to make this Day even more memorable is to offer your guests a little, yet meaningful gift, which you or your family can prepare with care and love. It doesn’t need to be something fancy or extravagant. Only a small token of your appreciation of your guests and something for them to take home, so they can prolong a little more this wonderful Thanksgiving celebration. Some of these favors could even serve as placement card holders or for decoration until your guests are ready to take them home.

Thanksgiving DIY Favors For Your Guests

Sweet candy corn favor

[ad#co-1]

Mini Pumpkin Candy Basket

These are so cute and simple to make. Use some beautiful mini pumpkins and bendable branches or some vine for making the handle. Empty the inside of the pumpkins, pierce small holes to push the branch through and add some nice candies for your guests. They are so adorable that they are easily used as decoration until the feast is over!

Mini pumkin basket favor

Image via: Pinterest

Rosemary pots

A clever way to upcycle your soup cans and displaying your recycling spirit. Just wrap some clean soup cans in burlap or upholstery tape, and tie it with some twine. Next, place small rosemary plants in the cans and ready are these eco-friendly favors! The plants can be used either to flavor your guest’s food over the coming days, or to be planted in another pot or their garden. Using different sizes of cans, they could even be a centerpiece for your table or you could use them as placement card holders!

Rosemary can-pot favor

Image via: Pinterest

Felt Cutout Coasters

So nice looking and easily personalized! They need a little bit of preparation, but your guests are going to enjoy them for a long time. To make, use some rectangle shaped felt in colors that will match the rest of your home’s decoration. Cut out on one end of the felt a little thumb notch and a small window, in any shape you like. Then, fold the rectangle so you have a square and stich or glue the sides together. Next, print out some words or images, or even your guest’s names on some matching card stock, and cut it to fit into the coasters, while your design will show in the window you made. Slide the printed cardstock into the coaster and you have a wonderful favor for your guests, which can be used perfectly as placement cards.

Felt coasters favor

Image via: BHG

This Thanksgiving show your guests how much you appreciate them with these creative holiday favors. This can start becoming a new tradition in your Thanksgiving holiday home!

Trying to decide on the perfect Thanksgiving dining room table centerpiece? Your holiday table will be the center of attention and choosing the right centerpiece can create a beautiful ambiance for all! This is where you gather with your loved ones to eat and share unique experiences together. In fact, dining room can definitely make an immediate impact in your home interior this autumn season.

Thanksgiving Dining Room Table Centerpiece Ideas

Thanksgiving table idea

Image via: BHG

Designing your dining room to complement the season is a popular routine. It makes your home interior and exterior look vibrant, fresh and voguish. This autumn, you can take advantage of stylish dining table to highlight your design.

[ad#co-1]

You can start with these autumn dining room table ideas to pump up your interior:

Prefer a natural and eco-friendly setting

Having a nice piece of dining table is one thing but having it all natural and eco-friendly is another. A nice wooden table can actually do the trick. You just have to complement it with your available linen or drapes and surround it with wooden chairs. As for the utensils, plain ceramic plates and silver dishware can change the looks of your table settings and achieve the autumn look that you wanted.

Natural foods create a beautiful Thanksgiving tablescape

Image via: Tasteful Taters

Do some repurposed wrapping

This isn’t just another eco-friendly idea but rather making use of what you already have. It’s a quicker way to start the table makeover this season. To do this, you can retrieve your gift boxes and bags to be placed as decorative items on your table. You can use craft paper to make a design pattern and have them distributed all around the table.

Repurpose baskets and stack with fragrant herbs and fruity

Image via: BHG

Include children’s crafts on your table

Isn’t it exciting to print out your kid’s artwork and make it as your placemats? This will add personalized touch in your table setting and will definitely provide a positive impact to your kid. A set of crayons tied with a name tag of the person sitting in the specific area should make it more exciting. Of course, encourage your kid to have his or her illustration related to the autumn season.

Now that you see how it works, you certainly have all the reasons to design your own autumn dining room table.

Today we continue Stagetecture’s feature ‘Olioboard Inspiration‘. Before you were inspired by – ‘Inspiring Contemporary Thanksgiving’ from Tabitha Loudon . Today, I feature Cari Murphy who is a member of the Facebook Olioboard Fan Room group and she gives us creative outdoor ideas for Thanksgiving decorating. Whether you’re looking to add festive color, natural elements or festive cheer for the upcoming holidays, take a look at these creative outdoor additions.

If you’re interested in being featured see details here: How to be featured on Stagetecture’s Olioboard Inspiration‘ series.

Olioboard Inspiration #50

‘Creative Outdoor Thanksgiving Decorations’ – Cari Murphy

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and nothing welcomes your family and friends more than a beautifully decorated yard and entry. Your neighbors and passers-by will also benefit from the visual delight you present them with. Make your yard and entry way a welcoming place that kicks off the holiday season and honors the time you will be spending with family and friends. This is a time of festivity, coming together and expressing gratitude for the blessings we have received.

Think ahead to the holiday season

Thinking ahead for the whole of the holiday season can also save you some valuable time and money. If you plan in advance you can go ahead and put out some decorations that with a few modifications can be used for the Christmas holiday too.

Go ahead and hang up some garlands with lighting or rope lighting which you can then spruce up when you are ready to decorate for Christmas. When hanging your lights make sure they are safe and working before putting into position, also purchase some spare bulbs just in case.

[ad#co-1]

Autumn colors to your Thanksgiving outdoor home

Think of the colors of autumn when putting outdoor Thanksgiving decorations out and the time of year and place wreaths or swags on your doors and windows. Create little vignettes in your yard and on your porch that express your personality. Highlighting these with a spotlight can create a dramatic effect at night. Hay stacks, pumpkins, turkeys, cornucopias and gourds are very popular decorative items. Hang a decorative flag from your front porch or put one in a planter in your yard. There is an abundance of decorative wooden signs too that you can add in to your décor and don’t forget to place a new seasonal door mat in front of your door.

For apartment and condo dwellers, just because you don’t have a yard doesn’t mean you to have miss out on getting into the holiday spirit. If you can’t paint your door, hang pretty paper on it and place a sign, wreath or swag on it framed with led lighting or a garland. Place a door mat outside and create a little vignette with pumpkins, gourds, hay bales or cornstalks, be sure to include some of the beautifully colored mums that are available this time of year. Your only limitation is the extent of your imagination and maybe your pocket. There are many budget friendly decorations on the market today thus making a little bit of money go a long way in creating a festive atmosphere.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year. It is a time to create new memories and to cherish old ones. What can be better than sitting around with family and friends and eating a fabulous meal. Enjoy the day and the kick off to the rest of the season. In the words of John F. Kennedy, “ As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

About Cari Murphy
