The laundry room often remains as the least finished room in the home. Most people neglect this place because it is not visited frequently and is used for limited purposes. However, only a few updates can make this room functional for versatile purposes. Check out these laundry room updates for spring:

Remove the Big Problem – Clutter!
Clutter is a big problem for any place, and the problem gets bigger when it comes to a room that is supposed to be very functional. Your laundry room is definitely cluttered when you have to put things on washing machine, on a countertop, or a table instead of a specific place or storage. So, you first step will be to remove the clutter and then, create storage space to keep things in place.

Make Creative Storage Space
To keep things organized, you have to make way for storage furniture pieces. If the laundry room is small, leave the floor and make use of the walls and the space behind the door. Expand the storage space upwards by using wide shelving units. The lower shelves can be used for laundry kits and soaps that are used frequently and the upper shelves for surplus supplies.

It will be helpful if your shelving units come with a row of Shaker-style pegs. They are convenient for storing things like hangers, cleaning tools, clothespins, etc. at eye level. A space-saving over-the-door drying rack that folds up when not in use and an easy-to-move mobile laundry station will make the place more functional besides saving space. Additionally, extra space for sorting and folding garments can be obtained by installing a storage cabinet.
Create Visual Illusion of Space
If the laundry room has wall-mounted open shelves and closed cupboards, nice wallpaper will work great in this case. If the room is small, choose horizontally striped wallpaper to create visual illusion of space. Besides installing open shelves, you can maximize the space by using freestanding laundry sink, rods on the wall for drip-drying clothes, and storage baskets. Even a few baskets can hold a load of laundry.
Good Lighting
Lighting is an important aspect for a laundry room and the spring updates for the place should have budget for proper lighting. Both ambient and task lighting are essential for this room. Ceiling fixtures, lamps, or under-cabinet strips will do the job of task lighting while recessed ceiling fixture will provide ambient lighting.
