Children’s room organization – need more space?

Entry #57, April 2, 2010

It always seems that children’s rooms need lots of space. For playing, getting dressed, and holding so much stuff! Need ideas of how to create more usable space in your children’s room?  Think organization.  With some creative storage ideas, and maximizing vertical space, I’ll help you maximize the tiny tot’s room.

Maximizing vertical space:

If you picked the bed up off the floor, would that free up some space? Uhh, yeah! Have you thought of loft beds? Loft beds have come a long way since my college dorm! Look at this loft bed, that any child would love!

Floor space is maximized when you go vertical with a loft bed

How about a bunk bed? Perfect for multiple children, bunk beds utilizes vertical space and have great styles too.  Look at this pirate ship inspired bunk bed!

Bunk beds are great for sleepover’s too!

Storage organization:

Storage can be as simple as baskets to throw toys in, or as elaborate as a piece of furniture.  Consider the space you have, and what your budget is.  Furniture is ideal, because it adds decor to the room while adding storage.  Baskets, and display area for books and toys.

Lower cost solutions include shelving.  Wall shelving is another great way to maximize vertical space and tailor the storage for your specific needs.

You can also find a good variety of loft beds on-line by doing a google search for “loft beds”.
