Over the past few years kitchens have begun to open up and show more contents in their cabinets. Whether you remove the cabinet doors from your existing cabinets, or you have open shelves, the ability to reach for a dish at a moments notice is helpful in the kitchen. Although, many complain that it forces the homeowner to keep their shelves looking beautiful at all times, not to mention have great looking dishes!

Here are some inspirational open shelving ideas… personally I LOVE open shelving, especially in kitchens that are small and need to be opened up visually. Although, for my household of 3 kids that aren’t always careful with dishes, and our mismatched dinnerware, I will have to stick to closed cabinets!

I’m with you, I’ll stick with the cupboard doors. These look awesome but the thought of keeping them clean? I have some open shelves in my kitchen for cookbooks and display. They are nice to break up the monotony but oh, the dusting.
I forgot about the dusting! 🙂
I have removed the doors from my kitchen cabinets and don’t find dusting to be a problem at all. I use them regularly for my dishes and glasses, so things don’t sit untouched. I found your site looking for some color ideas ~ and I really like yours. Thanks!
