Ingredients

8 to 10 servings

8 to 10 medium sized apples

32 Oreo cookies (roughly chopped)

Light corn syrup (1 cup)

Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)

Sweetened condensed milk (1 can of 14 ounce)

Cubed butter (1 cup)

Packed brown sugar (1 cup)

8 squares white candy coating (1 ounce each; coarsely chopped)

Brown and orange sprinkles (1/2 cup)

8 to 10 wooden sticks

Preparation

  1. Wash the apples thoroughly and dry them with a piece of cloth or napkin. Insert one wooden stick into each of the apples.
  2. Take the cookie crumbs in a plate and set aside.
  3. Take a waxed paper-lined baking sheet and place the apples on it. Let them chill.
  4. Take milk, corn syrup, brown sugar, and butter in a saucepan and place it on the stove over medium heat. Bring the mixture to boil and continue cooking for 30 to 40 minutes until the temperature of the mixture reaches 248° on a candy thermometer.
  5. Stop cooking and stir in vanilla extract. After that, dip the apples thoroughly into the hot caramel mixture and then dip their bottom in cookie crumbs. Press lightly so that the crumbs get stick to the apples. Set them aside on the baking sheet and let them cool.

For Garnish

  1. Melt the candy coating in an oven and pour in a plastic bag.
  2. Make a small hole in a corner of that bag and pour candy coating over the apples one by one.
  3. Lastly, garnish with sprinkles.

Tips

  1. You can use Snickers bars for candy coating, as they will add a very nice peanut-nougat flavor to your dessert.
  2. You can use Popsicle sticks or chopsticks instead of wooden skewers.

A caramel apple with a scary look in your Halloween dinner or lunch will be very hard to resist. The great thing about this recipe is that it is very easy to make and can be prepared with very regular items. This Halloween dessert will impress the guests and add some spooky holiday spirit to the party. Scare up plenty of fun with these caramel apples!

What have you planned for your Halloween desserts?
