What’ll You Need
Readymade templates of monster mitten
Sewing machine
Scissors
Felt
Iron
How to Make
- Search online for a monster mitten template and take a printout. You can also use this template from Martha Stewart.
- Attach felt pieces and fleece the mittens by using all-purpose thread and a sewing needle. Make nostrils with embroidery floss. Use buttons as eyes and stitch them on the templates.
- Cut out three fins from felt with a scissor and sew them on. Take white rickrack and sew them to the glove’s front curve. It will serve as the teeth of the monster.
- Cut out two pieces from felt so that they cover up the ¾ part of the top of the mitten. They will serve as the mane of the monster. Use an iron to crumple the felt lengthwise down the middle.
- Attach the pieces together with a pin and cut a frill on both the sides with pinking shears. Stitch the crumpled felt and the frill to the mitten.
- Now, make the ears of the monster. Cut out orange and pink felt triangles and glue them together. Sew on.
- Cut a felt piece in the shape of a tongue and stitch is to the bottom of the mitten.
- Now, make the scales by cutting two same-size pieces of felt. Stack and slip the top piece down. Pin and use an iron to crumble down the middle. Sew to the glove.
- To make a darting tongue, stitch a notched rectangle.
