Prep Time: 40 min
Inactive Time: 6 hr. 15 min
Total Time: 6hr 55min
Servings: 10-12

Ingredients

4 ½ cups of Milk
1 cup of Sugar
Kosher Salt (Taste)
1/3 cup of Cornstarch
5 large Egg Yolks, beaten
½ cup of Prepared Espresso, at room temperature
2 cups of Mascarpone Cheese, at room temperature
¼ cup of Coffee Liqueur
One 11-ounce box of Vanilla Wafer Cookies
6 Bananas (ripened), sliced into ¼-inch rounds
Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (For the dusting)
• Additional Equipment: 3-quart trifle dish

Directions

For the Pudding:

  1. First for your dessert recipe, you are going to want to heat 4 cups of the milk in a large saucepan and let it warm up to a steam on a medium heat. Take the sugar and whisk it together with the cornstarch and ½ teaspoon of salt in a large bowl; then begin to whisk in the eggyolks and the remaining ½ cup of milk.
  2. Go back to the hot milk and whisk half of that in with the egg mixture until the entire mixture becomes smooth, and gradually whisk the egg mixture back into the saucepan that it was previously in.
  3. And once again cooking the mixture of a medium heat just be sure that you whisk the mixture constantly until the mixture boils. Once it does start to boil, continue to whisk it over a medium, this will cause the mixture to thicken to a pudding-like feel, this should take about 3-4 minutes.
  4. After the pudding has been formed, remove it from the heat and now whisk in the mascarpone cheese until the cheese has melted. Then transfer it to a 9in by 13in baking dish and let the pudding slightly cool, again stirring it a few times to prevent a type of skin forming. Place a plastic wrap on the dish and place it in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

The Assembly

For the Assembly:

  1. When you want to loosen chilled pudding, just whisk it around like a mad woman and it should make it smooth and creamy-like. After you have gone stir crazy with the pudding and it is smoothed out then add in the espresso and coffee liqueur together in a small bowl.
  2. Get a few of the wafers, and dip each wafer into the espresso mixture and let them soak for a few seconds, then stand them around the bottom of a 3-quart trifle dish to make a decorative ring. (Look at the image above)
  3. Dip more of the wafers and stack two layers of soaked cookies on the bottom of the dish within the ring of the already standing cookie. Now time to smooth on the pudding all the way to the end of the dish with a small spatula. Then place a layer of banana slices evenly over the pudding, repeat the entire process 2 times, from the soaked cookies, to the pudding, to the bananas.
  4. Top it all off with the remaining cookies and then the remaining pudding, place a plastic wrap directly over the top of the pudding and let it refrigerate for at least 4 hours or through the entire night.
  5. Right before you serve the dish, lightly dust the pudding with the unsweetened cocoa powder.
  6. Now you have the recipe that will last for holiday after holiday after holiday. This recipe will truly be a winner around the table, now it will take some effort in making but the results will be well worth it. So for this holiday season, create the tiramisu banana pudding dessert recipe for your family to enjoy.

So for this holiday don’t get down in the dumps, create a dessert that will be passed down from generations to generations.  Also, feel free to make substitutions or additions.  The tiramisu banana pudding dessert recipe at the top is fantastic, however do any of you Stagtecture readers have a dessert recipe for the holidays that you would like to share?
