Entry #227, July 28, 2010
Last night, I had great conversation with #InteriorDesignChat on Twitter Chat. A group of design professionals who get together each Tuesday night at 6pm EST and talk about home design related topics. Last night the topic was ‘Fall Trends in Home Decor’ – absolutely up my alley! It was wonderful to hear what colors, textures, and ideas we think are going to become designer home trends.
One topic in particular that caught my attention was the use of orange in decor. Now when I say orange, not just any orange. Hermes orange to be exact. If you don’t know the name Hermes, think – Oprah Winfrey, Martha Stewart, holding huge leather handbags. That infamous orange ‘Birkin’ bag is just one of many products from Paris’s Hermes original saddlery maker since 1837. Today, the Hermes scarves and leather handbags are synonymous with luxury and status.

Hermes Orange is a home trend sensation in decor!
What is even more exciting to me, is that fashion has influenced the home design world. The beautiful deep orange that the Hermes logo is comprised of, is now a huge trend in home decor. Look at these homes and tell me that you couldn’t use some Hermes orange in your decor!
Powerful and clean, Hermes orange in this dining room is rich and engaging!

Would you like this orange in your dining area?
I love how the Hermes orange, turquoise and yellows are combined in this modern living room.

Paired with complimenting colors, this orange is still dynamic looking
In the bedroom this beautiful orange coupled with pops of black and white is stunning.

Drama in the bedroom, nice.
This fall look to see what colors are trending for the fall. If you like it enough, it may be a great color to introduce into your home!

I love the orange wallpaper in the bedroom design.
Me too! I think that this color has to be paired with the right neutrals, so it’s not so powerful. Thanks Donna for your comment. 🙂
Great blog! much appreciated.

Thank you! Come and visit often. 🙂
I have a friend who has an ‘Hermes’ orange dining room. A bit bold in daylight but absolutely ravishing at night by candlelight. It’s a very flattering color for guests. Great post!
Wowie! That sounds great! The color is so bold, but paired up with right colors and the right light it is commanding of your attention! Thanks for the comment. I just sent you a DM about guest blogging.. let me know if you’re interested. 🙂
