Home Organization: How to Declutter Your Drawers

Planning to do a home organization project? Start with the drawers! No matter how big your house is or how much free space you have in your home, it is almost impossible to have enough closet space. Even huge closets appear to be smaller when you find them cluttered and disorganized. One way of creating free storage space and make your closets seem bigger is to organize them and drawer organization is the first thing you can start with.

Check out these home organization hacks that will instantly help you saving your time and keeping the drawers organized.

Separate the Drawers into Different Sections

Compartmentalizing the drawers is a great effective way to keep things organized. Divide the drawers into different compartments of different sizes and assign each of them to specific type of things. You can create separate compartments with the help of dentil molding that can be easily found in lumber yards. Simply glue them or use brad nails to set them into place. Keep different things into sections of different sizes. A no-cost solution is to use a cardboard bottle divider from a wine or any liquor case.

Ornament Boxes for Baby Clothes

The drawers used for storing baby clothes need to be well organized so that you can find the right thing at the right time. Use ornament boxes to keep your baby’s clothes organized because they can store loads of things while take relatively less space. Select a large drawer of your closet to keep the clothes. Now, place ornament boxes in that drawer, roll up onesies, dresses, socks, bibs, and even blankets, and store them in different boxes. It will save your time while dressing your baby.

Fold Clothes, Save Space

Clothes like t-shirts, shirts, and scarves can create a real mess and take a lot of space if not kept organized. If you are fond of wearing any or all of these outfits, this simple trick will be life saving! At first, fold the sleeves in, fold the shirts in triples, and stack them in rows. It will clear up almost threefold of the previously taken space. On the other hand, keep your scarves and neckties in order by using PVC pipes. Just cut the pipes according to the height of the drawer and then roll into the scarves and neckties into them.

Trays for Smaller Items

Trays are an excellent option to hold the smaller items that normally slide around and create a real mess in drawers. Use ice-cube trays for holding smaller items and open-weave cutlery trays for grouping similar items. Use film canisters or pill bottles to hold paperclips thumbtacks, and similar type of tiny items.
