Home Organization: Keeping Your Dresser Decluttered

A messed up dresser top and overstuffed drawers is a common scenario in most of the houses. However, a few home organization tricks can save the place from being cluttered and change its destiny as a drop spot for junk. Check out the following strategies that will help organizing your dresser and keep the drawers decluttered:

Tame the Dresser Top with a Bin

The dresser top often becomes a mess because you always keep putting things like occasional jewelry, nail polish, receipts, sunglasses, and lotions on it without really thinking of keeping them organized. Take everything off your dresser and put them in a basket or bin. Organize the items by putting the larger items first and the smaller ones on top of them. Place the bin or basket on the dresser top and voila! You have got a decluttered and neatly organized dresser top!

Keep Similar Clothes Together

The clothes and other accessories kept in the dresser should be organized in a way so that you can find them easily. You can keep your clothes in two ways – according to categories and according to brands. For example, you can assign separate drawers to your H&M, Diesel, Calvin Klein, or Adidas outfits and accessories. Similarly, same kind of clothes like shirts, pants, or t-shirts can be kept in separate drawers. Do not forget to keep them folded!

Create Sections in Drawers

Dividing a single drawer into different sections will help you find things easily – especially the smaller accessories like undergarments, camisoles, hose, ties, belts, scarves, etc. Mesh or linen inserts will be great for creating sections in drawers but extendable plastic dividers will be the right option for extra large drawers. In case of smaller items, sort by style or color so that it becomes easier to spot them. For example, a pair of black socks or one pair of white undies to wear with those blue jeans can be kept in a single section.

Pack Pairs and Sets Together

Pack pairs and same type of clothes together. For example, keeping a top and shorts together or a set of gym clothes in the same compartment will help you finding the right clothes without wasting time. If you keep clothes organized in this way, all you have to do is to just grab and go!

Dresser is mainly used as an alternative to closet or as a clothing storage in the bedroom. It is supposed to be a pick-up-and-use spot but it turns into a drop-and-forget place in reality. These home organization hacks will be live-saving for those constantly struggling to keep the dresser clutter at bay.
