2015 New Year Re-Design a Room Project – Updating My Foyer with Del Mar Fans & Lighting

Moving into my 1987 home five years ago was a joy. Moving from an ultra-modern 2007 built-home that lacked character and was too big for me and my hubby to keep up with led us to our current fixer-upper home that is charming in more ways than one. The downside of moving into a 1980’s home is embracing all of the outdated finishes and brass lighting fixtures that fill the house. My foyer with its vaulted ceiling has always been striking with the fresh green I painted the wall but the carriage chandelier lighting fixture has always been an eye sore!

I was delighted to pair with the online lighting company, Del Mar Fans & Lighting to choose a fixture to give my foyer a facelift and bring modern appeal to my foyer.

Out with the old chandelier and in with a modern one!

I decided to play up the darker undertones of our wood floor and foyer table by choosing the modern Del Mar Fans & Lighting Kichler 2343OZ . I love the Olde Bronze finish and minimal detailing. I also chose this fixture for it’s adjustable stem length, as I knew my vaulted foyer ceiling might need extra length.

I was extremely pleased with the finished result. The Olde Bronze finish stands out against the white, creamy yellow and green walls and the lights cast a soft glow as opposed to the bright beam the “candle” light bulbs used to cast.

Not only does the foyer look better, but also it gives a whole new dimension to our family room. Thanks Del Mar Fans and Lighting for helping me say goodbye to our retro brass foyer chandelier for a modern and sleek one!

If you are trying to transform an area of your home this year, consider replacing lighting fixtures. They are cheaper than a complete renovation or purchasing entire rooms of furniture. It’s amazing what one lighting fixture can do for a room!
