Back to school, whether it is from a vacation or getting into a brand new school altogether, is a transition for your child and indirectly for you. A little thoughtful planning and prep from your end will make it a smooth sail. Well, this transition isn’t that big a deal. However little nothings from your side can make the experience a memorable one, in fact a ‘pleasantly’ memorable one for your kid. Fun Chalkboard Walls

Back To School, for some kids means a sudden disruption from a carefree, fun filled life. ‘Timetable’ takes place of  ‘I can do whatever, whenever’ and hence kids detest this sudden take away of freedom. My advice to parents would be, that do not change everything of a child’s routine in a flap. For instance, the presence of a fun chalkboard wall in your child’s room not only keeps him happily engaged during vacation but also is a subtle reminder that there will be a ‘Back To School’ time. Hence, the transition is gradual and comes with a friendly and fun warning.

Space Sharing

Kids at school have company. They share and care with their little friends and enjoy doing it. It would be great if the children could do that at home too. Instead of giving a separate room to your children (at a certain age they will ask of course) , try and let them share their space at home. This way vacation time won’t make them aloof and repulsive to other kids. In fact sharing and continuous chit-chat with siblings might make them look forward to school. Some easy ways of incorporating this thought in your decor would be the introduction of bunk beds, common storage areas etc.

Bookshelves

Kids spaces should essentially have a space for books. Not only this keeps them interested in reading but also maintains a subtle affiliation to school. A regular reading routine will help your child develop a love for books that will be a big plus when they go to school. After all, school goes hand in hand with books doesn’t it!

Frame Children’s Art Work

Believe it or not, framing children’s artwork from school can be a big plus. If kids have sweet reminders of the time they spent in school won’t they want to go back again? Of course it will make the transition easier and more welcome.

Frankly, getting back to school is not that big a deal. The trick is to make the transition smooth and welcoming and most parents are quite adept at it.
