Today we continue Stagetecture’s feature. ‘Olioboard Inspiration‘. Last week you enjoyed Tabitha Loudon’ s – ‘Your Recycled & Repurposed Spring Home ‘ and this week I bring you Michelle Clark a member of the Facebook Olioboard Fan Room. I asked her to create a kitchen that was full of space saving ideas. We all know that your kitchen can be chaotic! Look at her creative ideas for displaying, hanging, sorting, disposal, and organization of kitchen items and more.

Olioboard Inspiration #14
‘Creative Space Saving Kitchen Ideas’ – Michelle Clark
1. Up, Up and Away! First of all, let’s not forget to utilize the upward space in the kitchen. One can either build the cabinets higher, or add shelving to store pleasant looking containers or other pleasant looking items.
2. Let’s Hang! Another way to save space is to hang items including pots and pans, plants, and even herbs that you grow yourself. Look for beams to hold weight if necessary.
3. Divide and Conquer! One can also place a shelf between shelves inside the cabinetry to utilize the upward space in the cabinet to store cups, spices, and other items.
4. It’s a Family Affair! Another way to utilize space is to keep items used together close together. One can keep all coffee and tea items together, all salad items together, and whatever groups one uses on a constant basis.
5. Our Favorite Things! We must face the fact that only certain items are being used (more on this below on tip number 7), and they must be readily available, especially if the items are multiple uses.
6. Every Breath We Take! It’s good to keep a list of what’s happening in the kitchen. We can keep a list of what we need, and what is and is not working as well.
7. The Quick and the Dead! Let’s rid ourselves of what is not being used. One can give items away, donate, or discard items in clear bags to assist recycling efforts. Frenemies! — It’s also good to rid oneself of items that seemed to be good at the time, but are only creating dust and clutter.
8. What’s Your Talent? If one is too emotional to discard items, we all usually have a friend or two that are strong in this area. Tea party time!
9. The End Game! One must know that the endgame is maintenance. Keep an eye, and evaluate on a timely basis, and remember that:
10. You are stronger than your kitchen! MC
