Fall’s here, fall’s there everywhere we look around! Autumn home decorating for this time of year can be one of the perks of the season. But sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming when switching out the summer décor for the fall décor. So to make sure that you decorate your home in the fall style that you want and not have so much of a hassle, here are a few tips in getting your home ready for fall!
Simple Autumn Home Decorating Ideas this Season

Out with the Old and in with the New
The first thing you want to do is remove any décor and accessories that belong with other season that are not fall. Take those items and place them on a shelf in the garage, hallway closet or in the attic/basement for next year. Also, to make more room for the fall décor remove some “non-seasonal” items. That way the room will be less cluttered and the fall décor will be able to stand out more.

Keep it Simple and Basic – Autumn Home Decorating
Don’t over analyze the décor but start off by asking questions about what inspires you during the fall season. Such as, “What colors, textures and patterns of the fall make you feel the most comfortable?” or “What activities do you like to do during the fall?” These questions are meant to help you to incorporate the personal “feel” into the décor rather than just getting the same fall ornaments seen year round. You do not have to go overload on the decorating. If you prefer the less is more approach that is fine. Just change out some throw pillows, put out some books or a wreath that are inspired from the fall season.

Decorate in Time Frames
All of your fall décor does not have to come out at one time and during the month of September. Try putting out, for the month of September, the few fall inspired throw pillows, a warm throw, tree branches etc. Then for the month of October you can put out the pumpkins and scarecrows. By breaking up the times that you decorate you can save yourself a major headache from trying to gather everything at once and figure out where and how it should go into your home.
Add Scents of the Season

The scent of the fall is one of the most memorable things of the season. So bring that into your home as well. You can purchase any sets of candles, oils, potpourri, scented pinecones, etc. to help you bring the fall aromas within your home. When you go to buy these items look for scents like cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, and cloves to help give off the fall smell within your home. Now take some of the tips and suggestions above and see how they workout from you and your home. Be inspired and enjoy!
