Tips to Achieve a Coastal Inspired Bedroom

Entry #1270, June 10, 2012

One of the best forms of relaxation is a coastal experience in the beach. There is something about the sand, sun, air breeze, and the sound of the waves that make you feel revitalized and comforted. This is something you are eager to experience especially during summer, especially in your bedroom.

But you do not have to go outdoors to feel the breeze. One thing you can do is to make some adjustments to your room. The idea of having a coastal theme in your bedroom is the best way to having you feel like in a seaside every day and night. To achieve a coastal inspired bedroom, consider the following ideas:

Consider repainting with coastal colors

There are several ways to use color in a coastal inspired bedroom. If you want it nautical, then try red, white and blue. On the other hand, try some bright colors, pastels or combination of two colors like blue and white. This provides more tropical surroundings. But the most popular colors are combinations of ocean blue and white or green and yellow which are so serene and calm.

Change your bedding

Consider soft blue, tan or coral colored covers. You can also pick quilts that can have shells, fish, palm trees and other beach designs. Furthermore, neutral colors like gray or shades of blue should be the dominant colors of your bed. Feel free to put beach accents on your colorful pillows.

Refurbish your furniture

The right furniture has to complement natural elements from seaside environment. If you want to buy a new one, consider polished driftwood, bamboo or teak to inspire beach ambiance. Weathered furniture gives the feel of being on the beach or in a coastal community.

Brighten up your windows

Look for window treatments to complete the look in shades of white, pale blue, or yellow.  If you want to give your room a little privacy, you can use a natural fiber shade. Make sure that the color and texture complements to your beach theme.

Use beach inspired decor and accessories

Use beach theme photos, prints, wall decors, rugs, and pillows. Also, do not forget the lighting. It creates more drama to your room. You may install high luminous lamp with dimmer to enable control at any time of the day.
