The idea of growing a vegetable garden at home is a simple way of saving money and ensuring clean vegetables for foodstuff. It can be a great way to fill in vacant space in your backyard. Growing vegetables at home can add colors and attractions to the area where you chose to plant. Also, it can be an excellent hobby for people who want to rejuvenate while seeing your vegetables grow and ready for harvest.

There are numerous varieties of vegetable to choose from. But not all are fit to grow in a backyard garden. You have to be able know how to choose the best vegetables to grow home before taking the initial step. Here are things to consider in choosing vegetables:

Consider your climate
This will increase the potential of getting the harvest in due time. You can search for your local zone map or chart to identify your zone location. The data will provide you with the average minimum temperature in your area. This will now be your basis for selecting which vegetable fits your zone.
In warm areas, vegetables such as cucumber, beans, pepper and corn are recommended. On the other hand, cool areas with a little bit of frost can plant lettuce, cabbage, spinach, broccoli and peas.
