Ever thought about things to do in Daytona Beach, Florida when it’s not the summertime? Now that summer is over and cooler weather is setting in you won’t believe how many festivals, restaurants, and beautiful Daytona Beach shores there are to explore. Just a short, 90-minute drive south from my home in Jacksonville, Florida lays the ‘Festival Capital of Florida’, Daytona Beach. While it’s classically known as a tourism spot in the warmer months, my family enjoys visiting the city in the fall and winter season for the food, festivals, and beautiful temperatures… and fewer crowds!

Things to do in Daytona Beach: We love the Daytona Beach Pier
My husband and daughter and I love to visit Daytona Beach for their variety of festivals during the autumn months. There is truly something for everyone and for every type of interest level. We enjoy walking about and down Daytona Beach Pier, it’s like a carnival! With the fun activities and carnival rides to the games, my 10-year old daughter enjoys playing the games and eating the yummy hot dogs and pretzels. We often see people fishing with their tackle boxes along the pier and families soaking in the cooler 70-80 degrees temperatures along the beachfront. If you’re free during the weekdays they have Weekday Getaway Deals to help you save money and have a good time!
Daytona Beach Shores aren’t as Crowded During the Fall
One of the best things to do in Daytona Beach is enjoying the ocean and the beach sand. Here in Jacksonville, our beaches don’t seem to be as pretty and peaceful during the daytime hours as Daytona Beach. When we go we bring a beach blanket, chairs, umbrella and a cooler to take back some of the delicious food from the Boardwalk restaurants. Sometimes our daughter talks us into walking in and out of all of the sweets shops like Zeno’s Boardwalk Sweetshop that is filled with yummy treats! The Daytona Beach shores and their Fall Beach Escape is breathtaking to enjoy on your own or with your family.

Daytona Beach Festivals are Known Throughout Florida
Living in Jacksonville there is one thing we really know Daytona Beach for, and it’s their festivals. Whether you visit Daytona Beach for their Warm Holiday Fun or for their other activities you will want to come back to fit everything into your schedule. If you visit for their Jazz Festival or Arts and Crafts Festival or Biketoberfest for motorcycle enthusiasts attracts thousands every fall. My favorites are the music festivals! I love Country and Bluegrass and my husband likes Jazz, so in October is always the perfect match of music that we both enjoy.
This fall instead of skipping Daytona Beach reconsider the city that offers more than just summertime fun. From the beach, Boardwalk and Pier to delicious restaurants and festivals, we try to visit 3-4 times during the fall and winter season. Have you visited Daytona Beach lately? I’d love to hear what things to do in Daytona Beach, you look forward to each fall season.
