Guest Blogger: How to Update your Dull Bedroom for the Spring

Guest Blogger #447,Entry #1066, April 3, 2012

There are numerous ways that Britons can spruce up the bedroom ready for the sunny season. The four interior walls can start to look dull and tired, especially after a cold winter but you can inject a splash of colour and brightness back into the room with some top tips.

Bring in fresh colors and accessories

Liven up the bedroom décor on a budget by purchasing some new accessories. You can repaint the walls with a spring/summer colour like magnolia, yellow, light blue, or green but if your purse strings are tied, you can experiment with simple furnishings.

Fresh new bedding can transform the whole room and it doesn’t have to cost the earth. Many families’ disposable expenditure is limited nowadays during such a difficult economic climate however you can still spruce up your own and the kid’s rooms without spending a fortune and bedding can be purchased in many retail sales or at car boots.

Alternatively, you can purchase a brand new mattress which will enable you have a relaxed night sleep during the hot, stuffy season. It is very common to become overheated in the summertime and to find yourself tossing and turning at night time but a new mattress that moulds to the contours of the body will let you fall asleep peacefully.

Dazzling curtains can energise a room’s atmosphere but it is important to put some sort of lining to the back of the curtains to make the room more energy efficient. Lining will keep the heat in and any unwanted heat out, therefore saving you money on the energy bills and reducing your carbon footprint.

Fresh mementos and flowers

Why not perk up the bedroom with new accessories like picture frames, pillows and ornaments? Fluffy cushions can make a young girl’s room extra special and girly, and you can showcase any special momentous occasions by printing out pictures and displaying them in colour coordinated frames. A big frame that includes photographs of all family members helps a little one learn who their important family members are and it can be a nice reminder for any relative’s that live far away.

Fresh flowers are a brilliant idea to ensure the room is sweet-smelling in spring/summer and because many flowers are in bloom at this time of the year, you can simply pick them yourself from the bottom of the garden.

Give the windows a thorough clean so that they are transparent and empty the wardrobe with all your winter clothing, box them up, and put them up in the attic to gain more space for summer garments. Follow these top tips and have a lovely bedroom to sleep in this season.
