St. Patrick’s Day is a very special day. If you want to celebrate the special day in a special way with your entire family, try this St. Patrick’s Day craft. According to Irish folklore, Leprechauns love the color green and hide their treasure (gold coins) under a rainbow. They are excellent tricksters and can quickly slip through your fingers. If you happen to catch them, they can grant you three wishes in exchange for their freedom. Make a trap that will capture them by following these instructions.

Supplies for the Project
- Long cylindrical container
- Big and small craft sticks (or regular sticks)
- Spray paint
- Small rocks (or shiny monopoly coins)
- A piece of string
- Glue
- Gold glitter glue (optional)
- Construction paper in different colors (one of the colors should be green)
- Green felt
Procedure
- To make a ladder, attach the big sticks vertically using glue. Afterwards, attach the small sticks to create steps on the ladder. Since Leprechauns are really small the steps have to be very close to each other.
- Cut out shapes or flowers from one construction paper and affix them on another paper or on the green felt using glue.
- Use the decorated paper or green felt to cover the cylindrical container entirely. Attach with glue.
- Open the container at the top and cover the hole entirely with a circular piece of paper. When the Leprechaun tries to get the gold, he will fall into the hole.
- Spray-paint the rocks to give them a gold appearance.
- place the rocks or coins on top of the container so the Leprechaun can easily spot them.
