Creating a Relaxing Bedroom with Calming Color

Creating a relaxing bedroom can often be a challenge when you don’t know how to go about it. Trying to escape the busy and hectic life of the outside world in your bedroom is a treat for most homeowners. In fact, your bedroom is the one place in your home that is truly yours and you don’t have to share with the rest of the household! If your bedroom isn’t a relaxing oasis, you may consider changing to calming colors that will help you unwind after a long day. While different colors have different connotations to each person there are a few colors that will naturally bring your mind and body to rest, try these tips towards a relaxing bedroom.

Choose colors inspired by nature:

Humans are naturally drawn to colors that are inspired by nature. Calming tones of greens, blues, and browns remind us of the sky, water, greenery, and Earth. When used in conjunction with soft hues of each they naturally create an organic appeal that is perfect for a calming bedroom escape. If you like a bolder color, consider using as an accent wall or even in your bed accessories, bedding, and decor. For a variation in tones consider muted tones or grayish tones of all the colors. This will provide subtle color but keep your surroundings calming and serene.

Need help choosing paint colors for your bedroom?

HGTV has a great article on how to choose paint colors for any room of your home, especially the bedroom.

Ensure your bedroom is comfortable:

While your walls and bedding can be infused with color don’t forget to start off with a comfortable mattress and bed. Waking up to a beautiful room won’t make a difference if you had a poor night’s sleep. Bedroom World has a wide variety of mattresses and beds to ensure a good night’s rest. Also consider lighting in your bedroom. Often times homeowners spend the time to bring in color but forget that natural light, ambient lighting around the room, and task lighting will ensure your colors appear relaxing and calming.

Look at these bedroom color schemes from BHG for more inspiration.

Your bedroom should reflect a relaxing oasis to retreat to at the end of every day. Use these tips to help you create a bedroom that you enjoy going to sleep in and are elated to wake up to every morning.

I couldn’t agree more! I never knew what a difference a colour scheme in my bedroom made until I changed mine to all-white. Ever since, it’s the one place in my home where I feel truly relaxed and even can recharge for an upcoming event, or a busy afternoon by going there to rest for mere 10 minutes. An oasis, indeed!
