Decorating your Windows with Touches of Garden Inspiration

Entry #985, February 29, 2012

As spring draws near and we start looking at ways to bring the beautiful spring colors and plants to our indoor home, we can’t forget that your windows are a perfect place to infuse garden inspiration outdoors! Whether you have windows that open onto a porch with flowers, or you display colorful planter window boxes, there are plenty of signs that spring is almost here.  Here are tips to decorate your windows and views with bits of color, greenery and wonderful spring touches.

  • Decorate with color and textures:

The beautiful part of adding garden inspiration to your windows is that they can be enjoyed from inside your home and viewed from the outside. Window boxes hung outside your windows can add color and texture to the façade of your home, while adding depth and softness. Even abodes in urban surroundings can bring gardening touches to their city homes. Try and choose contrasting foliage to the exterior colors of your home, and don’t be afraid to draw attention!

  • Take advantage of height:

One area that is often forgotten outside windows is vertical height. Especially on porches, overhangs, and arches, hanging planters give the eye a backdrop of color and texture. Ferns and plants that have long extensions make for the perfect hanging planter foliage.  Whether you choose natural moss baskets, or you opt for air plants such as certain varieties of orchids, your windows will be complemented beautifully with hanging plants.

Brighten up your windows with the addition of springtime plant decor. From window boxes, and garlands around your windows, to hanging planters your outdoor home will welcome spring with welcome arms! The added bonus of giving your home beautiful curb appeal, and seeing your window plants from inside your home only makes these ideas sweeter!
