Sometimes, the rooms in our homes that could stand to use the most renovating are the ones that we tend to spend the least time in. Take your guest bathroom, for instance. Other than when your parents come for the holidays or a couple of friends stop by during the summer, the door to the room usually remains shut, which means that when it comes to the decor, you rarely give it much thought.
Then your phone rings and you find out that in a couple of days, you’ll be having some overnight guests. Now, all a sudden, the guest bathroom is all that you can think about even though you’re on a budget.

If you’re in a bit of a “decor jam” and you’re looking for some ways to dress up your guest bathroom with some impressive accessories without having to spend a mint to do so, we have five helpful tips right here:
Create a new theme.
If you have time to paint your bathroom (or even just an accent wall), that can dramatically change the look of the space. However, if time is limited, you can also stop by a local K-Mart or Target and purchase a new shower curtain, bath mat, trash can and bath towel set. Just make sure that it has a uniform color palate and that you accent it with thematic things. For instance, if you’re going for a beach look, shells on the window sill, sand in a mason jar and an ocean blue soap dish with a beach-scented candle is a really nice touch.
Get a new mirror.
Traditionally, guest bathrooms tend to be rather small. So, if you have a mirror that only hangs above the sink, consider purchasing a new one that can either go onto the wall or a body-length one that can hang on the back of the door.

Add baskets.
Rather than having your guests resort to selecting a wash cloth and towel from the linen closet, purchase some cute wicker baskets that you can roll those items with and tie with a cloth bow. You can even stop by a local Wal-Mart or Target to purchase some socks and toiletries to put into another basket for their convenience.
Swap out your faucets and cabinet knobs.
Decoris all about the details. If the sink looks rather dated, you might consider calling a place like Cherry Hill Plumbing to install a new skink, but you don’t have to go through that much trouble. Simply stop by your local home improvement store and pick up a new faucet. When it comes to the cabinet knobs, InfarrantlyCreative.net has a photo tutorial that will show you how to customize your own. Just go to the website and put “custom cabinet knobs” in the search engine.
Beautify with flowers.
Fresh flowers are an accessory that absolutely never goes out of style, plus they add a nice aroma to any room. The wonderful thing about flowers is that you can find them year-round and at the grocery store, they are reasonably priced–a great “last minute” accessory addition.
